First time posting

Greetings everyone.  New to the forum.  Been following Bob's youtube videos for a little while.  I can relate to much of what he's written and spoken about: "soul sucking jobs" etc.  I'm 63 and just retired, I think.  My hope is to get into the full time nomad life.  With the uncertain future of social security, I may have to pick up some work-camper income from time to time.  I currently live in southeast Tennessee.  Anyhow, look forward to the discussions on this forum and maybe getting to meet some of you in the future.

I understand that you can keep your Social Security money and still work now.  Not sure whether this is right but it's what I hear.    If you sell your home and just go full time Nomad,  you could  find some of the better places in the USA to live and work and if you found something worthwhile...return to work.  Still,  you may want to take some time away from work and clear your mind and get a new perspective.

IIRC ,,if you start at 62 you can earn $15K. With no loss of SS check amount. (In fact you will get a boost when they calculate the deductions in). After that they will lower your check on a 2-1 basis. (for every $2 over the max , they will deduct $1 from your check)
After you reach full retirement age , no penalty no matter how much you make.

I'm not going there as to what might happen from a political standpoint.............

Thanks for the welcome.  I've not yet decided on what I will need for a life on the run.  I want to keep things simple.  A coverted van would surely fit the bill, but a converted cargo trailer would give me a bit more room.  I'm 6'1" and being able to stand up inside whatever it is, would be a plus.

You're right.  One can work and and continue to earn a living, up to a point, and not sacrifice his social security benefits.  I've been a nurse for the last 20 years; it's time for change.  I do need an opportunity to clear my mind and regain clarity.  I have given consideration to doing some kind of work-camper stint in the future; perhaps campground host or something else, to suppliment my income.  Not going to rush into anything.
