I had a great time at the RTR in January even though it was 27 degrees in the tent when I woke up that morning :) Got lots of good ideas can't wait to get a van and get started. Which is what brought me to Mississippi from Kentucky for the next couple of months. I hope to make a little extra to buy my van.
Of course while Layla (my four-legged companion) and I are here we will go exploring.
The chronicles of our travels will also be posted at www.my.opera.com/fireman428.

hope to see everybody this summer, in a van.
Dan

I'm enjoying reading about your travels and explorations, Dan. Can't comment without registering, though. I just hate having to remember another password.

Ok, so this weekend was not as productive as I would have liked. It started with trying to get out of civilization too quickly. I had unloaded some items to make room for building materials. So I'll just say some things I needed to work with were not with me. Like for instance only one tool bag, my suitcase solar was still tucked away in the storage pod, that handsaw (that I looked at and thought that might be handy), the booster battery charging beside my desk.. that's close to everything.
So we got to the camp area on Paragon Rd beside some of the backwaters of Cave Run Lake.

Time to set up shop. Unloaded everything so I could put down the floor insulation.

Beats garage or parking lot workshop. Got the 1/2" poly-iso board with foil on both sides down on the floor.

Started cutting the 1/4" plywood for the sub-floor until the battery running the inverter gave up the ghost, I did plug that in last night right? Oh well I'll just.... nooo the suitcase solar is still in storage.

And oh yeah that hand saw sure would be handy.

I know I'll run the van and use that battery! Nope, van wouldn't start
Fortunately, there were some kind folks that gave me a boost, remember the booster box charging beside my desk?
Went to town replaced battery that I have no clue was how old. Also picked up an alternator since mine was squeezing out only 10 volts.
I'm set I think. Shoot, the other tool bag is the one that has the box-end wrench I need.
Well time to work on other projects and not let small things get me down.
So i started on the insulation panels for the tilt out windows. Making template to cut matching curve.

Managed to get two of these done before the lake called.

After Layla and I went swimming, she supervised cooking supper.

`Taters were still on the fire.
Time to get ready to bed down for the night. Layla was not real pleased with this arrangement. She couldn't figure out how to get up there to sleep on my ankles like she normally does. Later around 2 or 3 in the morning we moved into the van. I got tired of her "nose-butting" in the back through the bottom of the hammock.

All things change and so we had to move on. But we did enjoy a beautiful sunrise and a good time.

See ya again next trip..
DanC & Layla
