Dyer, NV is a hidden gem in the Nevada desert.  I usually don't post exact locations and I will not here except to say in the general area of Dyer.  Dyer is a small town in eastern NV,  pop. under 200.  there is a store with a deli,  small rv park,  restaurant,  library,  post office,  and bar.  Dyer's main industry is cattle ranching and alfalfa.  there are several small creeks flowing out of the White Mtns to the east.  very good creek side boondocking locations and great fishing for pan size trout.  there are a few ghost towns in the area and lots of old mines.  o yeah there is a little gold here and there. there are no large cities nearby so the night sky is spectacular.  Dyer is not on a main highway it's on a little traveled secondary road so the traffic is very light.  so now I will bore you all with some pics of the area around Dyer,  some of these you will recognize from my other threads.

some will remember this pic.  this is at one of the creek side camp sites.  this is one of my all time favorite boondocking locations.  more to come.

so outside of Dyer there is a great hot spring.  hardly anybody is ever there.

dyer.3.jpg
here's a pic of the spring.  beautiful view.  the water is too warm for summer time.

dyer.4.jpg
but the ponds that the spring feeds are just right.  there are three ponds each one cooler than the one before it.

dyer.5.jpg
here is Pat in the spring,  Scout wanted to get in on the pic.
more to come.

final post with some misc. pics.

dyer.7.jpg
sun breaking though the clouds after a thunder shower.  the way it lit up this formation was cool.  the pic doesn't do it justice.

small rainbow after the storm.

some will recognize this pic it is also from the Dyer area.  so that's it for now.  a couple of notes,  the store has a little of everything but it good to be prepared when visiting the area because of the remote location the store is a little pricy not to bad but you don't want to do your essential shopping there.  if you are from Kalifornia with CA plates tread lightly some of the locals don't like Kalifornians and will let you know.  it gets hot on the valley floor during the summer better to get up in the mountains.  in the winter it gets cold everywhere and snows on occasion and on occasion it snows a lot. so that's it for now.  any questions ask away.  highdesertranger

oops I got caught. well I mean I messed up when I stated, "Dyer is a small town in eastern NV," it is actually in western NV. I was thinking on the eastern flank of the White Mtns. that's what I get for thinking, glad someone caught my error. I don't know if you want me to say you name but thanks. highdesertranger

Bob, the best time is spring and fall. however I have been there during every season. in the summer go up higher in elevation in the winter stay down lower. just like everywhere else. btw the hot springs are year around if it's to hot to go into the pool the ponds are real nice. highdesertranger
