So I'm aware that the way some people get money is by getting a seasonal job at a campsite or a farm or something like that. I've heard a lot about that.
What I've never heard is anyone mention anything about retail chains. Instead of getting jobs at places like campsites, do you instead get a job at maybe a Walmart or a big chain restaurant for a seasonal job?

I have heard that Amazon and other big retailers hire for Christmas season, but I don't know first hand, you see, I am allergic to work. I have strict Dr's orders to not go near it. It's like the wicked witch of the west and water. I'm melting...I'm melting...

Tourist town businesses hire seasonal help as they are shut down in the off season. Others may have more ideas.

Retail stores usually hire on extra people for the Christmas season but that won't carry you all the way through the year.

Bar tending or waitress jobs would be more much reliable. But each state has its health law certifications for "safe food handling" to be complied with. Fortunately those state health department test now seem to be done online rather than having to arrange to attend a test session at a psychical location.

There is also work in the casinos which seem to be everywhere and also often have RV parking. Those jobs tend to be in the evening which leaves some daylight hours for exploring and fun. That is perhaps a lot nicer in the winter time when other jobs tend to mean going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. Plus if you are indoors in a heated space in the evening when it is colder you will save on heating cost.

I do and I love it!

I have an extensive background in sales and didn't want to be tending to the campground jobs that camp hosting usually entails.

I work 5 months of the year at a national historic site, dressed in period costume and selling high quality products to customers who are thrilled to be on vacation and are enjoying themselves. what's not to like about that - and they pay me too!.... :D

I think I've had one slightly unhappy tourist in 2 years - so not anything like working regular retail jobs where grumpy customers are more the norm than not!

A lot of state/national parks hire on seasonal staff for their various stores and visitor centers. I used Indeed.com to find summer work...use key words like seasonal, summer, temporary etc and pick your desired region. Most tourism seasonal jobs start in April or May so you should be looking right now to get the best pick of the jobs around.

That’s sounds like a cool job. What historical sites have you worked?

Trying my first go at a seasonal position this year.
I have my final interview scheduled Mon for a supervisor's gig at a lodge in Grand Teton national park.

In searching I have noticed lots of positions in Visitor centers, which usually include some gift shop work. All kinds of different seasonal work out there. Seems I have noticed a sizable number of clerk type jobs.

I was looking for beautiful mountain surroundings, campsite provided and some $.

If Monday's call works out I will be headed to some of the most beautiful Wilderness in the lower 48, private room (with kitchen) and meals provided. I will have my rig with me, to explore with, and a guarantee for days off to always be consecutive.
The pay is so so but the perks have me very excited

If it doesn't work out I have a potential Northern CA NF camp host gig that provides a daily stipend in the works as well

The lower a state's min wage the lower seasonal pay is there, it seems.

I work seasonal jobs. I worked at Yellowstone National Park for the 2017 season, then came back to stay with my daughter as I had some serious health issues to deal with. I've applied for a seasonal job at Mt Rushmore and I have a phone interview scheduled for this coming Monday. I'm hoping I get it because I need to build up my financial situation. I do get early retirement now which helps.

I used to have a friend who spent winters working at a retail store in Everglades National Park. They provided housing as well. Great place to escape the cold. He loved his job.

We are looking forward to our own 'seasonal work' We will be selling hats and patches at special events and markets. Something we did 45 years ago and something we hope we can do again. Our trial markets have been good so far. We will be towing our 'store' around with us. We still have a few things to work out, like doggy daycare ETC.. We have a few car shows we want to hit and a few small shows we want to get to, but first the world needs to get over this Covid stuff. 45 yrs ago we were young and 2 week 18+ hour days we could do, we can now do just 3-4-5 day shows and not the 18+ hour days.... Maybe you can think of something like that, work what you want and were you want.
