Decided to join the fun

Hey,
Been lurking here for a while and finally decided I should join in.
For the last 5 years, I have been spending about 3-4 months a year (mostly) boondocking out of a Subaru Forester. Wet weather and a muddy dog convinced me I needed more room, so I am in the process of upgrading to a truck camper. Traded my Subaru for a 4x4 and am looking for a used 8' pop up camper.

Learned a lot already from you folks and I hope you don't mind if I pick your brain a bit in the future, as there is a lot of knowledge here.

Welcome Spaceman Spiff! We are glad your here! You should consider a SpaceKap if you want to build your own. I saw an 8 foot one on craigslist today for only a few hundred.

Pop up campers are cool if you mostly boondock in summer, but the canvas can be a big insulation headache in the winter months, and will require some work to keep leak free in heavy rain. That said, they are pretty cool and I wish you luck finding the right one or your truck.
