We don't tolerate heat and humidity well, nor dust due to Gail's allergies. When we began looking for retirement locations, we looked at Information on Colorado and the surrounding area through city-datathe area is central to travel, it seems, and temperatures change by elevation.. We also took a two week drive through the area, going as far out as Cedar City, Utah, which was on our list.

Need to go out again for a longer period of time and widen our search.

Some more nice images!

Seraphim, I think the sad reality is that there is not one place you can hang out that works for all the seasons... What I/we do is head up high in the summer to cool off and head from mountains to high desert to lower deserts for the winter, then repeat... As for dirt and dust, ya just cant get away from it, maybe an surgical type mask would help your wife out, i have seen them used... In reality it is a tough life that's extremely enjoyable...

Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs, CO. Good painting country. (testing to see if I can actually do this right)

Tiny watercolor about 2.5 X 3"
Very nice!

Thanks, Les!

Angeli

I missed the fact that YOU created the painting. Very nice.

Thanks Seraphim!

I'm going to try another, just for fun! And to try to convince myself I'll still be able to paint tiny paintings in a van or a teardrop!

Angeli, Nice paintings! Not sure of the style (art illiterate) but I like it.

While I love Green grass, especially if someone else is mowing it i've Never seen more spectacular beauty than in this thread. I think the Four seasons is one of God's Greatest gifts.
I think it could take a few years to fully experience just some of the sights in each area of the country. What Better chance than the life of a vandweller, to make this a Reality. I think a person should actually make a short list of the sights they'd like to see.
My hope is that someday i'd like to see more of this Beautiful country. I do drive a truck for a living, and have been in about 28 states, but that doesn't allow for seeing but a small fraction of the sights.
I wouldn't want live forever in the Desert, but i've been to the Rock Hound state park in New Mexico, and it was nice, just Dusty.

And here's some quotes related to deserts from the movie "Lawrence of Arabia"

Prince Feisal: No Arab loves the desert. We love water and green trees. There is nothing in the desert and no man needs nothing.

Jackson Bentley: What attracts you personally to the desert?
T.E. Lawrence: It's clean.

Mr. Dryden: Lawrence, only two kinds of creature get fun in the desert: Bedouins and gods, and you're neither. Take it from me, for ordinary men, it's a burning, fiery furnace.
T.E. Lawrence: No, Dryden, it's going to be fun.
Mr. Dryden: It is recognized that you have a funny sense of fun.

Couldn't resist. I actually kinda like the desert but the only time I spent any time in one was in Kuwait. Will have to dig up some pics.

thanks, Rollin!
