Hi there folks.
My name is Tomas, i come from and live in Norway

I've been reading these pages for some time, getting inspiration to start my own vanlife, I lived in different tiny spaces before, tents, tarps, caravan and cabins.
The main reason for me to live in a van is that i already live a nomadic kind of life, but i need to feel at home and dont have my stuff stored all over the country.
For me, one of the biggest symbols of being at home is having a bookshelf with my books in, and its been a while since i had that.20170701_173452.jpg Space for bookshelf allocated :)
I am selfemployed as a handyperson, i practice tradidional handcrafts like logbuilding, different carpentry projects and at times i take employment in kindergartens.

I recently bought a 2000 Iveco Daily with 216000km, and i have started the process of converting it and downsize my belongings...
The van was converted and registered as a campervan in 2004 so a lot of the stuff is there already, like windows, solar system, awning, swiveling seats etc, there was also the usual camping stuff like hot and cold water heater, refrigerator, but i am cutting these out and going lo-tech, so they ended on finn.no (Norways Craigslist)

That was a little bit about me, i hope i will be active and give and receive from this great community.
Peaceful greetings, Tomas

Hi. I spent some time in Oslo a few years ago. Lovely city. :)

I carry my bookshelf around with me on a Kindle for PC. ;)

:) Hello and Welcome

It sounds like you have some good skills to use building your van to suit you and also to support yourself.  Will you be full time?  Is it possible to live year round in a van in Norway?

Welcome aboard !
Don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have.
Lots of van living experience here.
It looks like you have lots of room in that rig !

Hopefulli i'll manage ;)

The plan is to live full time in it yes.
Sure you can live in vans and caravans year round up here, I believe most people live in caravans, the brands from around here all comes equipped with good insulation and central heating system.
My own plan is to head south to Portugal or other southern European countries before its time for wintertires up here, and return when the country thaws up again :)
Peace Tomas

We call that "snow-birding". Many of us van-dwellers do that--head south where it's warm in the winter and then head north when it's warm. :)

Welcome to the CRLV Forums   :)

I think you are making a good choice and I believe you have learned much of what you will need to know
when you set out.  (having traveled and camped as you have)   The Van will allow you consolidate your belongings and efforts into a more efficient way of life.   Then you will have mobility and greater opportunities.

I'd invite you to look at my websites below and use any ideas from them that would benefit you.

I'm presently looking about for a small cargo trailer to go with my rig.  It is detailed in the first site below.
This would leave the Van for mobility and the trailer for utility/support at a base camp or when traveling.
The modular nature of this design would make life much easier.

Best of luck to you !
