Well since I personally don't always have access to a outlet I was wondering how big of a battery can I use w this cooler and would an Auto Battery work ? I have a 400 watt inverter and I have a cigarette socket w the clamps that is 12 volt.

Those coolers are a waste of money and time, as they suck power and in hot weather, won't keep stuff *cold*.
Running things like that off a ciggy plug isn't a very good that either.

The best advice on this unit is to save your money!

That type of cooler is realistically (without advertising hype) meant to be used in a vehicle while the vehicle is running. It will only cool up to 40 degrees F cooler than the ambient air temperature which means if it's 90 outside, it's only going to get down to 50 inside the cooler chest. It is also an absolute power hog that will flatten your starting battery inside of a few hours. It's okay for when you're driving from home to cottage and need to keep stuff cool but that's about it. It's not meant for camping for a weekend or for living out of.

If you cannot afford a good 12V cooler, then buy the best ice chest you CAN afford and start saving.

I have a 12v mini fridge of this type. It pulls 8a at 12v and will run around 5 or 6 hours on a 95 Ah, grp 27 marine battery. The only way I would use it would to let the excess power from the solar run it all day and shut it down at night. That makes it good for drinks really. At that power level I can run a 3.1 ft 2 door mini fridge.

I have used this type of cooler before and I would like to point something out. while they say "up to 40 degree cooling" that number is under laboratory conditions. I found that in actual use once you hit about the mid 80's ambient you where lucky to get 30 degrees cooling. this means in the 90's and above you seeing inside temp in the 60's and up. that's if you are lucky. no good. highdesertranger
