Morning to anyone who ventures into this thread.

I keep reading about everyone's ventures, van conversions and joys!
Sooo, thought it was time I contributed about our van.  Hopefully this
thread will cause me to be more accountable. It is so easy to remain in
the background, but I am going to make a concerted effort.

We have done a lot to this van since we got it in 2013. And it seems we are still
tweeking it here and there.

I wrote in the Choosing the Right Vehicle, Van section:
Floor Insulation:  http://www.cheaprvliving.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=28386

I would like to tell you about our van, and include pictures.

We love this van. Gas engine gets about 17 miles per gallon.
This is a combination of town and highway. I drive 55 most of the
time as I want to get the best gas mileage.  Plus, when everyone
else is driving faster (the speed limit, I am sure) I am left all alone
and can really enjoy the drive!    ;)

Cargi is a high top van, so the wind hits her broadside on really windy
days. I just slow down a bit, and she does great!!  When a "big rig" passes
you can feel the drag hit you as wants to move your vehicle around a bit.
I think everyone has felt this, even on automobiles.

We added Air-Tabs  http://buyairtab.com/product-category/individual-airtabs/
Now, unless I see the truck approaching in my mirrors, I don't even feel
the "big rig" passing, then I see him next to me.

We added the Rain Guards on our front windows. This was another great investment.
Good source of ventilation when parked somewhere. Turn the
fantastic fan (generic term)  on in the back and in comes outside air.

Pete designed a screen we can insert in the window that is narrow so we can
have the windows open at night and not get bugs. With the rain guards this
works great. No rain, no bugs.

He also designed a screen we can put in the windows when we want them
all the way rolled down.

Well, this is a start...   Now to get more pictures.

Can you post a picture of the ladder, plus the brand or model, and did you actually notice a change in gas mileage with the AirTabs?

They aint cheap and while the theory is sound, the payoff is long if they only make a small difference...

I will be posting a picture of the ladder and giving info about it. But, I have to take some.

This might help answer your question about the airtabs.  We also have them on the top of our
Toyota Sienna Minivan.  They are quite worth their cost to us.  I drive the van most of the time
and will not be without them, even should we buy future vans.  When a product works, it works.
Each one must decide the cost for them.
About Airtabs    https://buyairtab.com/about-airtabs/

Apparently, reviews are positive for increase mpg. Here is a guy that knows about the RTR that used the product (video about air-tabs):

Yes they've been in the trucking world for about 2 decades....very familiar with them thru my occupation....just wanting to know if this person actually had a measurable result with them on a van.

Thanks for including this...

"this person" has not measured the fuel mileage since installing the airtabs.

lol....sorry if that sounded odd to you, it sure wasn't meant in a negative way.

'this person' meaning the OP...

I was wondering, because, on commercial trucks the difference in fuel mileage is claimed as 1 or 2 percent...which would be hard to measure with a personal vehicle....so my curiosity engaged and I was wanting, sorta hoping, that the increases might be noticeable to you.

Like I said earlier, they ain't cheap and the payoff for smaller vehicles might take awhile, but they look cool and apparently help with aerodynamics.

So...with all that,  I return this thread to regularly scheduled programming.

Dig the fins!  :)

Thanks, db...

I like them too.

Especially when driving and I look in my rearview mirror.
I think they really look cool then!

Great work with those screens, very ingenious. I dig those fins too and followed your link to their site. An aspect of the tabs was increased visibility in the mirrors on wet roads (above 35mph), so maybe monitor that to be even more impressed with your purchase.

Thank you.  I come up with something I think we need and Pete comes up with the answer.
I am so blessed!
