This is where I was one year ago. My wife and I did the Alaska trip and spent a week in Banff, Lake louise, and Jasper. The gondola ride to Whistler brought back some really special memories. The top station is a restaurant from where you can climb an additional 200 feet or so to get to the summit. My wife and I did the climb. When we got to the summit, we saw a really dark storm heading our way from the western slope. It was too far to get back to the restaurant before the storm would hit. We found some large rocks that formed something like a rock cave so we climbed in to wait out the storm. Once it passed we climbed out. There was a rainbow below us over Jasper, so I was 'somewhere over the rainbow' --- literally.
I strongly suggest that everyone make a camping trip to this area.
