In the 80's where I was living in CA a few people set up road racers.  They took 280Z's and stripped them down to the max.  They even took out carpet and drilled holes in the frame to make them as light as possible.  On one run on a mountain road they hit and killed a mother and daughter.

The law made an example out of them.

I am not worried about morons with wrenches.  There are much worse problems, such as morons with cell phones texting. :dodgy:

This was a law intended to protect mega phone companies from getting their leased product altered. (Cell phones cracked)  It was poorly written and so can be interpreted to cover computers in tractors and road vehicles.

That needs to be cleared up by another law.

Just an aside, but somewhat related. The EPA won't let the dealers reflash the computer for anything that wasn't originally offered on the vehicle. I had to be real careful with what tires I put on my truck. I was able to fudge a little, as the tire size I chose was originally offered only on the Power Wagon model, which never came with a diesel. But the service tech was able to reflash my pinion factor to match my new tire size. And before reflashing, the truck was almost undriveable after going from the tiny 26'' tall tires to 33'' tall tires. Now it runs great and the power band is right where it needs to be, instead of running at RPMs closer to what a gas motor should run at. It's definitely not easy to modify a modern vehicle to meet your needs.

Did not know about the flashing with different code for tire size. Had a land cruiser I jumped the tire size up to 36. Bet should have looked at the computer
