So for the past two weeks I've been learning to make Black Bean Burgers and they are really good, this how I do it,

1 can black beans
1 cup cooked rice
2 tablespoons flour
1 small onion
4 slices of cheese
buns, lettuce, tomato, mayo, etc

makes 4 burgers, fry in a splash of olive oil

mash drained can of beans with potato masher,
add onion diced and rice, mash more (I like to add a splach of olive oil and garlic power)
now add about 2 tablespoons of flour and stir. (this is the trick to make the burgers stay together so you can flip them)
drop 4 burgers in pan & mold to liking & brown both sides and add cheese to melt on top.

The first time they might fall a part when you flip them, but you will learn how much flour to add.

Try different seasonings, I found that a tablespoon of powered ranch dressing adds some zip

Enjoy

I have been wanting to try this and totally let it slip my mind. I've seen pics and they look delicious!

I think they sell mashed black beans already by way of refried black beans. That would save a step here, but this looks real good. Can't wait to try it out.

We bought refried black beans the last couple of times instead of the regular kind. They're really good - much more flavorful. I've been wanting to try making bean burgers too. It seems like a lot more salt has been added to the already made veggie burgers. They're almost in-eatable. Thanks the recipe review!
I've been cooking my own beans because you get so much more from a dry pound of beans and no salt, but I shaired this with a "can" of beans to help make it easy for people
In fact I'm having them tonight!

Sounds great. Just wondering if you have or can you use brown rice for this recipe?

This sounds wonderful, robear!

No reason, at all why you wouldn't be able to substitute brown rice.

an egg added to the mixture would serve as glue and keep them from falling a part. Because of the extra moisture you may need to add more flour or rice.

Yes you can use brown rice, I have.
Last night I cooked my brown rice with a beef bullion cube, and thought it was good.

It's funny you write about adding an egg, as the first recipe I had called for an egg and they would brake when I tried flipping them, then I found another recipe that had no egg and used a little flour and that did the trick, try it both ways and post how it works for you.
