Arriving 1. October from Denmark

Hi all RV'ers
I will be arriving in Las Vegas (from Denmark) at Saturday 1. October and there I will receive my first American Present. The Brasser Women will be there to welcome me and take me safe to my hotel.
I will properly be very tired and confused, so it is very nice to know there is someone to give me a smooth start in your big country. Thanks Girls
Sunday the 2. October will properly be a day to land and find my feet's in the exciting new town.
From Monday d. 3. October to Friday d. 7. October I would love to have visitor's
If you are in the area, please let me know, come and show me your rig and let us talk about how you do it. Seeing and reading on the internet is one thing, but seeing it in real life is the best and I have so much to learn.
The Danish and Americans do have a lot in common, but there is also some things that is VERY different
And Please, also if you are in anything else then a Motor home, it be a Box Truck, Van, Bus or something else, I would love to see it. I haven't decided what kind of home I will make yet
In the first week, I will be living at the Longhorn Hotel, 5288 North Boulder Highway, Boulder Strip, Las Vegas.
Please let me know, here on Facebook, if you are coming, so I won't be out and about.
P.S. If you have any extras laying around, like a hammer, a bowl, a screwdriver, a pot, a tea towel or anything else for a household, I would be grateful to receive it to use in my new home.

Not all share the hustle and trafic of Las Vegas with delight, personally when in Vegas I retreat to the red rock park and stay a night or two and head out, It is a starting point and Motels can be fairly inexpensive. Vehicle choices well be numerous Casinos upgrading fleets, and down and outers selling whatever they can to continue gambling, I have found culture, there is a college
open with a lot of resources, if your over 62 get your National Park Pass 10 dollars and you save 50% in National parks until you find your dispersed camping legs and vehicle.
There are several BIG flea markets a great resource for most anything.

I think there is a lot of sale on the street I will be at the first week. I will suck inspiration as a sponge and then hopefully make a decision soon. If I need to make it all my self, there is short time to RTR

Just a note - that $10.00 senior once in a lifetime rate is available ONLY to US Legal Residents and Citizens. The rest of the world have to pay the $85.00 annual fee.

Still a money saver to be sure if you're going to be visiting a lot of National Parks but still!

Maxine - sorry I won't be there to welcome you. I won't be getting to the west until sometime in December but I sure hope we get to meet at the RTR.

Maxine I bet you are excited. as for the free goodies at RTR. they put a tarp out on the ground and people put useful things on it that anyone can take and use for free. last year they had to add another tarp because it got to be so much stuff. highdesertranger

If you need to find inexpensive pots or pans quickly, you can always try Ikea or Walmart or second hand shops (Goodwill and Salvation Army are the two big ones here).

I wish I could bring some stuff with the plain. I have a little tools left, but I will donate it here instead.
I is nice to know that there is help to find if I haven't the right tools for my rebuild, but I think I can borrow

I would like to see your Second hand shops, they can have many good tools and stuff I can use.
But I need the vehicle first....

The suggestion to check out second hand shops is a good one. Even if you don't buy pots and pans there, you should find flatware, dishes, utensils, storage containers, tools and all kinds of other stuff. Pawn shops often have tools and Vegas has a lot of pawn shops. Your hotel is within walking distance of several second shops and at least one pawn shop.

Also if you get tired of all the noise and traffic of Vegas the Clark County Wetlands is two miles away. It's a green space that's used to filter treated waste water before it's returned to the river. Very tranquil and pretty - you won't believe that you're close to the city.

My heart is smiling to you. I do fell as a member of the tribe and I look forward to add my help to anyone that need a smile and a hand.

I would be proud to own the vehicle that GoSmart has made but I do need to be able to stand up. My back is operated stiff so I cant crawl around :-I
My mind tells me that I would love to make my own Box Truck so it has what I need but my body tells me to buy a Class C RV....

If I choose to make my own, I also need to find all the tools to make it. I dont have even a screwdriver with me
And some hands to help with the electric things, and a place to sleep when I build, and....

But if I start with a good bed and a Composting toilet I can go for a long way....

I honestly dont know what to choose, but when landed I will have time to look around. That is why I would love for some of you to come and show your rigs and talk to me. 
Sitting alone in Denmark makes it a little harder. I do not have the possibility to look around and talk to people. We do not have that kind of world here!

Quite an adventure coming up for you!

I think your choice of vehicle should be based a lot on how long you plan to own it...if you're just coming on a 6mo visa, I'd think that buying a used Class C will give you the best experience in the time you have. But if you're here long term, building out a box truck might be a good choice. Much also depends on your budget.

I hope there's people in the area that can stop by to visit you, you have a lot of enthusiasm for this adventure. All cultures are different though, and combined with the area you will be first staying, you need to be aware that there are a lot of dishonest people who might see your openness as an opportunity to take from you. Purchasing a vehicle and buying from Pawn shops are two things that have a high potential for getting ripped of, and being a foreign lady who's outgoing with details can leave you open to confidence scams.

First I need to be sjure that US and I are Compatible. If yes, it's forever
I will then have to go 6/6 US and Canada to stay.
I have about 10.000$ to do with and that is not much when I need to buy tools also, but if I have the time, everything is doable !

I put my trust in life on the good guys. I do NOT want to hinder my life by fear for bad people. I am not naive and will question everything! Purchasing a vehicle is difficult for us all and I must pay for pro help when the decision is to be made. Buying from Used or Pawn shop is a question on my own quality assurance. As is it for us all

I also hope to get to Florida some day. I have been told by so many that it is a very nice place. Then I hope you make a good ice coffey

I'm on a $10,000 vehicle budget and I think getting a stand-up vehicle is doable with that. Will you have a regular income or is that for your entire trip?

Maxine, I suppose you have done research on conditions in the U.S. One big difference between Europe and the U.S. concerns medical systems. Foreign visitors to the U.S. are advised to purchase health insurance before their arrival. 

American hospitals treat everyone who walks in the door, but prolonged care and hospitalization are terribly expensive without insurance.

Various companies compete in the health insurance field, so it is a big advantage to look for a good price when considering insurance policies.
