app for listening to music offline on Android phone

Does anyone have a favorite app for listening to music OFFLINE on an Android phone? I just want to play songs I already have. I am confused because Apple Music (which weirdly enough does work on Android), Spotify, and YouTube Music all seem to want you to go online. I never really got squared away again after Google Play Music died. (how many years ago was that? I might win the procrastination prize.) I downloaded some offbrand thing with annoying ads for now, but I'm curious what other people use. Thanks!

Depends if you want to pay for a subscription or not.

Spotify has an offline mode where you download a playlist and can play while offline. My daughter used this feature when we used to take very long drives during covid into the mountains and everywhere else. Her list was over 700 songs and took up some space on her phone.
