Any ideas on how to remove seat bases?

I am working on renovating our 1992 Chevy G20 Gladiator edition conversion van. The first order of business is removing the second row of captain seats to add more living area. The removal of the chairs was easy but I have no idea how to remove the bases. It looks like there is a pin with a keychain looking thing that I guess can be pushed down. Any ideas on how to get these beasts out?

If you could pan back and post better pics of the base it would help. Can't tell much from that pic what kind of mechanism you have.

Google it. It took me 1 second to find the manufacturer. Call them Tuesday or do a search. I would look under for bolt heads myself.

it looks to me like the plastic covers need to come off exposing the bolts. highdesertranger

There seem to be torx heads in the one picture. I bet there are bolts underneath.

The manufacturer was open this morning and I was able to speak to someone in their engineering division, super nice and helpful. The pin is a plunger lock which needs to be pulled up. You then rotate the bases slightly to move the bolts from the slots to the holes. Considering the van is 26 years old I am going to have to hit the plunger lock with some WD-40 and some mechanical persuasion to get things moving. I will let you all know how it goes!

Use PB Blaster instead of WD 40....it's only a lubricant and won't do a thing for freeing up those bolts.

Every time I see PB Blaster my mind inserts peanut butter.  :huh:  How can that work?  

Penetrating Blaster, made by the B’laster corporation is a great product and is the most effective one out there.
