Hello highdesertanger !  The same invitation goes out to you if you're ever in the mood for a cup of coffee and a visit.  Looking forward to the cooler weather after Tuesday.  Sorry for the reply delay.  I use the libraries.  This one happens to be open on Sunday.  :)

Have a great day.

Hello all ! Hope this finds everyone well. Getting happy feet for the Ehrenberg adventure. Copied the map to my phone. Hopefully, I won't get lost ! :) May not need physical therapy for my shoulder as I almost have full range of motion already just doing the gentle pendulum swings. But, I'll mind what the doctor suggests and will hear any day now.

I've read about Ehrenberg once more and it says there are plenty of spots by the river ! Can't wait to explore it and to meet everyone and use my little string of solar lights for the first time ! :) (it's the little things!) Take care till then...

Corinne.

How true it is the little things. Just because we live small and move around doesn't mean we can't take a little of what pleases us. I travel with a few vi tage tea sets and dishes. If one breaks I'll look for another at a thrift store. My little solar dragonfly lights broke I want another set.

I should be in the area Dec some time and hope to find you and our tribe.

Hi dragonflyinthesky!  Thanks for the post - and speaking of living small...;  I grew up around those who just had way too much stuff, borderline hoarding.  No offense at all meant to any of them.  But it cured me.  I enjoy keeping things simple for myself.

I see you enjoy making greeting cards.  It was a great joy of mine at one time.  I used pastel pencils.  I still have my drawings in my laptop.  I named them Chimes.  Maybe at some point I can share them with you and vice versa.  I won't bore you with the details, but life took a few turns here and there (as it does for most) and I had to lay the pencils down for a while.  It's all good...

I look forward to meeting you too and the rest of the tribe as well !  See you then !

Corinne.

Corinne, I think you'll enjoy Ehrenberg but there are very few camps on the River, I'm only aware of onn good one and its the middle of nowhere, but it's so good it's always taken.

I'm planning on spending November in Quartzsite and December in Ehrenberg.

Thanks for the information Bob.  I think I'll do some exploring once I get there and will hopefully find a tree or a few bushes I'm fond of to park next to - or just an open area.  :)  At that point, I'll string out my little line of solar lights and stake my claim !  Never been to the Quartzsite area either, and will probably give that a look see as well.  I'll look for your Van but would never impose unless I see some sign of life around it.   :)

By the way, I just noticed the other day that you're from Alaska !  For the past few months I've been thinking about a possible road trip to Alaska at some point in my life.  Never been.  Right now it's just a shimmering thought.   Anyway, had to share.

Thanks again Bob !
Corinne.

Thank you for the welcome Vonbrown and will see you there as well !

There are several options for camping on BLM land around Quartzsite. If you're going to be staying most of the winter the Long-Term Visitor Area pass is the one that you should get. It's $180.00 and good for unlimited camping from September and April. You can also buy a pass for $40.00 that's good for two weeks and allows access to the water and sewage dump on the LTVA sites.

There's also free camping outside of the LTVAs, basically almost anywhere in the desert that's BLM land. You must move every two weeks to a different location at least 25 miles away. If you're staying near Quartzsite a free pass is required. There are several manned stations where you can get a pass.   http://www.blm.gov/az/st/en/prog/recreation/camping.html

Some forum members arrive at Quartzsite in November. Ask again when you get there and I'm sure that you'll find a few people ready to socialize.

I'm trying to read up as much as I can on Quartzite and I keep running into jargon and things I'm not familiar with.

I have the $80 "America the Beautiful" pass that gets me into BLM/USFS stuff for free or reduced prices.  I see that's not accepted at Quartzite on the link you provided above, but where can I find information on the $40 pass?

Also, the LTVA pass, can I go into any BLM and buy it, or do I need to go to an Arizona BLM for it?  I couldn't find any info on the New Mexico BLM.  Is it a yearly pass, or permanent?

I'd love to head out to Arizona for a mini meet-up (we've got a free week of no plans during that time), gotta check with the better-half first.

Just for clarification, the areas designated as LTVAs are a very small portion of all BLM land in Quartzsite.  Outside of LTVAs, 14-day stays on BLM land are free (pack in, pack out, no amenities).  You just need to get a free permit upon arrival; you'll see signs for them along the side roads.

The RTR that Bob hosts (http://www.cheaprvliving.com/gatherings/) in January is on a free area of BLM land.

The $40 for 2 weeks, and $180 for Sept-Apr is for the LTVA portions of BLM land with minimal services.  LTVA's provide pit toilets, water, trash and dumps.  Also, for an additional charge, service trucks come around with water and septic pumping.

Suanne ... heading south in 2 days

if you camp in the LTVA, they will find you and gladly sell you the pass believe me. ask me how I know. highdesertranger

If you are only going to be there for a week, you don't need to buy anything, it'll be free.

Technically you do need a free permit but forget it, don't think about it again because everyone blows it all out of proportion. When you get here we'll help you figure it out. It's simple, free and easy.

Hello Tbj.  I'm only familiar with Ehrenberg AZ, 7 miles past Blythe, Exit 1.  Free BLM land.  That's where I'm headed soon.  The map, I believe, is on one of the Gatherings pages up front.

So far, I'm able to head out to Ehrenberg myself this Sunday or Monday, unless I have to wait a few more days for my forwarded mail. Either way, I hope to be there sometime the first week of November...there abouts !

See ya there about then.
We're leaving Venice  Beach in the hour...waiting for morning traffic to clear some ;)
Headed toward San Diego to meet SternWake. Then to Holtville for a soak and on to Yuma and up 95.
The whole coastal trip has been loads of fun :)

Be safe

Hello the house!  :)  Sounds pretty awesome.  I love driving and exploring.  I'm just waiting on some mail that I need to wait for.  The VA hospital in Fresno is approving me for PT in Blythe, so far !   :)

See everyone soon, and be safe as well !
