Hello fellow think-out-of-the-boxers!
I am planning to go to Mexico to get work done on my teeth. I have researched as much as I can. The best answer was to get a referral from a friend. I don't personalty know anyone who has had work done there. I see there was someone recommended in the blog section. I checked into the dentist and there are a lot of positive reviews. There are a couple very negative reviews as well. Does anyone here know of a way I can find a dentists in Mexico that I can count on to do good work?

I will be taking a vehicle that has no ventilation other than rolling down the windows. There is AC while driving. Are there any portable propane air conditioning units on the market I could use at night? I don't have the electrical power to run one.

Welcome,
the only person that I can remember right off that has been to Mexican dentist is VanTramp. Excuse me if I'm wrong Van. You will find more people down there in the winter as many spend the winter in Az. You might also look at irv2 and rv.net. Both those sites are a different crowd and not really the van types but many do go to Mexico for care.
Not much you can do about ac and the only way you will ever have enough electricity for ac is to run a generator. They need to develop a 4000 watt, micro size, fuel sipping, silent generator for $300 and our problems will be over:)

I just did this back in Jan of this year. It was super simple and much cheaper than up in the States.

I chose to go over the border in Naco Arizona (to Naco Mexico) which was super simple. No wait, no lines... easy as pie. The Dental office was the 3rd building in, so walking over was easier than driving. The good thing about this area is that it is up at 4000 foot elevation. It may help with slightly cooler weather than elsewhere.

My Sister and Brother In-Law have gotten a lot of work done in the dental offices south of Yuma, AZ

My Nephew just had 3 fillings done down there

Just find a place close to the border and walk over.

I go to Algodones, Mexico every year (winter only!)for dental, eyeglasses and prescription meds. Here is a post I describe about it and who I go to:

It'll be 110 in Yuma! If I had to go in the summer I'd stay in a motel. At Algodones there is an Indian casino just 2 miles from the border and they run a shuttle to the border. I'd stay there or in a motel in Yuma and drive down to Algodones. You walk across the border. The motel will cost you a little but you are saving thousands on dental so it's still cheap!

I had a decent root canal in zihuatanejo for 30 bucks if you're feeling a little....crazy.
