I saw this van today, granted I didn't see it in full daylight, I'm not so sure about the color, however:

- It is a 1996 Chevy Express w/ 5.8L V8, 131,000 miles
- It has had 2 owners, and sounds like it was used mostly for traveling
- The interior is in very good condition for a van this old (and includes polished wood around for a luxurious feel as well as leather seats)
- The space behind the front seats is more than 10 feet long, which is great for a standard size van! And taking out the front passenger seats will allow for a whopping 12.5 to 13.5 ft of space!
- The height is adequate, one of the better interior heights for a conversion van
- The back sofa seats are power reclined to fold into a queen size bed (and there is plenty of space underneath for space.
The paint job is mostly in very good condition except for the top (and especially front top) that is peeling, which is common for older conversion vans
- The van was very smooth with no issues from a test drive that I did on it (including a "flooring test", braking test, and a freeway test). AC worked well as well.

The asking price is $5500

My only sticking point is the color, and though I didn't see it in the daylight, I had somewhat of a problem with the coffee color of the interior. Am I being to picky for a deal like this? Also, wouldn't it seem that this van be great for stealth once I get the front top repainted?

Yes. Get some seat covers and maybe it wont feel as noticeable. They probably make some sort of upholstery stain or something for different shades/color.

I totally relate. I hate light blue interiors. And maroon interiors.

If the van is going to be your home, it should be a color you like. You wouldn't buy a house with wall colors you don't like if you had to keep them that color.

I take it further. I hate the graphics on conversion vans. I hate the stupid running boards and flares. I hate the bigger windows they insist on installing. I hate the wood trim. But that's just me. Other people really like that stuff, and that's cool. Lucky for me, commercial vans don't have any of that stuff I hate.

^ I like the luxurious styling inside conversion vans. I guess it makes me feel spoiled. Finding a good conversion van, to my experience, is not easy.

BTW, the Honda CRV that I use now, It was actually not my choice but my Dad's choice (I wanted the Honda Accord back then about six years ago). However, I grew to like it a lot after admiring the reliability and going on many trips with it. Then again, I still had my choice for its color.

Chances are you are going to redo the inside of that van at least once, over time. Bed spreads and other coverings can completely change the look. Not to mention filling it with your stuff.

There's nothing I love about the inside of my rigs' color pattern, but I don't hardly see it now. And I have a plan for when money becomes available.

There are plenty of upholstery paint/dyes in spray cans that actually do a good job as long as you avoid problems from over spray.

To get a good vehicle that you can afford, compromises will be made. And i like the color.

$5500 is really high for a '96 with 131k.

These conversion vans are cheap now, especially with gas being so high and big vans are gas guzzlers.
