I'm sure many of you are familiar with Aldi stores, for those who have not discovered them... I highly recommend you pay a visit to Aldi!
They are a great source of high quality, inexpensive food and a small selection of household items.  You can download their mobile app and it will give you a 4 page digital flyer of up coming sale items!  Even without sale prices, I have found Aldi everyday prices beat most supermarket sale prices!

we don't have them out here yet but I heard they are on the way. they are a German company right? highdesertranger

We have them in my part of Ohio. Some are better than others (store cleanliness, helpfulness of employees, quality and selection of goods). Generally, produce is good and much cheaper than chain stores. Sometimes they have name brand items. Usually get my frozen Butterball turkey for Thanksgiving there and save big bucks.

Highdesertranger, YES, Aldi is a German owned company! They have a pretty cool business model and have been in business for over 100 years!
I love them!

I have long heard good things of Aldi's, but we don't have them down here.  A couple of our longtime chains have folded, so I would welcome an Aldi's or two in my town.

Useless Factoid: Aldi and Trader Joe’s are both owned by the German family, the Albrechts

We have an Aldi's near me, and they do have some good deals. You have to watch carefully. Lots of nice produce but some is also a bit beaten up... as in you buy a bag of navel oranges and take care getting it home. Then the next day, one of the oranges already has some green mold from being damaged in some way.

I try to avoid them these days as I have tasted their bags of Pita Chips (sea salt). Addictive to a southerner (tastes a lot like crispy, puffy pie crust) and absolutely no redeeming nutritive value. :p

The mention of Trader Joe's tugged at my heart. My all-time favorite store for its brilliant mixture of half health food and half wanton, exotic junk food. Not to mention terrific beautiful and truly odd greeting cards for only $1 (if price has not changed). No Joe near me now! ABQ had two when I moved from there.

:D :D :D

I love TJ's. Good stuff all around.

Yeah, they are owned by the same folks as Aldi and I wouldn't surprise me if Aldi started moving west. Who knows, we may get Lidl too.

We love Aldi's and shop there almost weekly. Good stuff but yes you do have to pick through the produce for the best pieces.

We had several Aldi's stores nearby in Illinois and were bummed to find none here in FL within 25 miles... but just saw they're building one out by the interstate, so yay!
