Looks awesome, except for being black. Wondering about parts, repairs etc. Opinions?

Ok, more info...it needs a new windshield, side door, horn and exhaust to pass local inspection

ok, found out it needs a new windshield, side door, exhaust and horn to pass local inspection.

I have two Third Generation E150 vans - a 1986 and a 1988. Pay attention to door and window rubber. They age, and get brittle and broken. Check the door latches and locks, especially if powered. Get under it and check for rust in the floor. Also check the rain gutters. They tend to rust on these vans. I know....... :(
If the AC needs work, it'll need converted to the newer refridgerant. That won't be cheap.

Any other questions just ask.

I love the older trucks and vans, and that thing is seriously cool! If it wasn't so far from home I'd buy it if you don't. I think the 4 speed is a conversion. If I recall the only manual they came with was a 3 speed column shift. If it's done right it's definitely an upgrade, but I'd look around under it to be sure and also check the floors, door sills etc.. for rust as mentioned before while you're there. One of the things I love about the older iron if it's in good shape is it's pretty simple mechanically speaking. If you or a friend are even a reasonable shade tree mechanic you can fix most anything that might go wrong as you go along. Nice find, I hope it works it's way into your life.
