Have you asked a cop elsewhere in the same jurisdiction? Just to get info without giving away your situation or location.

Call the social services or welfare in your area. Or call a church. Or visit a food bank. Ask them about homeless sleeping in a car. What will happen. --- you are not yet be in that situation but this is exactly what you are treated like. And consulting with others besides police will give you an idea of how you will be treated.
