Acceptable compromises on budget van purchase?

If i have a budget of 10k for the purchase, what would be acceptable compromises i should accept? I think it's age vs mileage?
 Online, i've seen  v6's or 1/2 ton or passenger vans or fords that i assume would have plug problems. I've seen vans with 225k miles and some vans with the driver seat with alot of wear.
There has been a few vans slightly over 10k @ dealerships. Is there a source for vans at a wholesale price? What ever van i get, i'll be riding a scooter to avoid putting alot of wear on the van till i retire/travel

Private sales are typically much better deal but a bit of waiting and patience may be needed. At 10k purchase budget there are many good buys to be found. Travel may be necessary depending on location. Don't settle, keep looking!
