Very interested in activities within the --Homes on Wheels Alliance\Land Acquisition program. With a general focus on:
[*]-- Build out vans and trailers, recondition RVs to become safe and secure homes for those in need, and
[*]-- Assist nomads to improve their current vehicle dwelling (build bed/cabinets, make mechanical repairs, install solar, sew bedding/curtains, etc.)

1) My limitations will not allow to regularly work a full shift. Is this strictly volunteer and/or is there the possibility of some form of compensation?
2) In what regions, of what states, are the existing HOWA land located?
3) What are the current 'hot' skills being sought?
4) Are there concerns/issues with data connectivity on the existing land?

Thank you for taking the time to review this post.

Welcome to the CRVL forums! To help you learn the ins and outs of these forums, this "Tips, Tricks and Rules" post lists some helpful information to get you started.

Most of our rules boil down to two simple over-riding principles: 1) What you post should provide good information (like your introductory post), and 2) Any response to someone else's post should make them feel glad they are part of this forum community.

We look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome LIFE! Thank you for your interest in HOWA. At this time there aren't any active builds due to the precautions that are necessary to keep everyone safe. HOWA is still awarding minivans but all of the builds use plastic bins, shelving units, cots, and potable solar power stations. The number of people at the no-build builds is kept to a minimum. Four people were recipients of minivans this month. The next build will be in the fall.

To answer your questions:
1) You do not have to work a full shift. It is strictly voluntary.
2) HOWA owns 5 acres in Douglas AZ. This will be used for builds and training when all the permits are procured. At this time builds are done on public land in Pahrump AZ and near Klamath Falls, Oregon. Bob Wells and Suanne Carlson are looking for a larger piece of land to buy that will be used for builds, training, and gatherings.
3) When the builds can start again HOWA will be looking for people with carpentry, electrical, and mechanical skills. Experienced nomads are also needed to provide training over a two-week period and act as mentors for new nomads.
4) The land that is currently being sought must have good cell signal
