A true story of love at first sight.

A 390 CID Ford w/ AFB 750 CFM 4v has never met a fuel station it did not like.

Holy smokes!!!

You're gonna have a new truck by the time you're done with this! (It's looking awesome, btw!!)

390's are great engines, but are not quite the economizers I'd be looking for.

Kepp 'em coming!

Looking good so far and I see you have a young helper too. With everything you're doing it will be on the road for his kids too. Great family project.

That's what I am hoping!  It would be nice to keep passing on down the blood line :)

They guy I bought the truck from bent the original I beams to lower the truck and ruined them.  So I had to replace them.

ah I understand. I hate lowered trucks. well hate is so harsh, I strongly dislike is more PC. why anyone would take a work vehicle and make it useless for work is beyond me. I supposed they just heated the a-arms with an oxy-acetylene torch. that would ruin them. highdesertranger

Yep, that is what they did.  It ruined them.  It is sitting correct now though.

yep, I have seen many hack jobs by people trying lift and lower trucks. as soon as you said lowered and you had to replace the I-Beams, well 2+2 still equals 4. highdesertranger

Quite a nice restoration there.

I have a friend who has a Pickup somewhere around that vintage.  He found a totaled Lincoln and bought
the 460 out of it.   I think it had a big 2bbl carb.   He claims he got better gas mileage with the larger motor.
His aim was to tow a 5th wheel camping trailer with his set up.

But that should be a nice bug out when you get her done.
