For better or for worse, I decided to start a new thread, mainly for providing information, as the other threads have devolved a lot into personal disagreements.

Please only post here if you want to add information links. And try to make them from reputable sites that are providing objective information rather than hysteria. Please use other existing threads for personal opinions and agreeing to disagree. So ....

1. I notice that JiffyLube is still open, and now allows you to sit in your vehicle while they do the oil changes, whereas before you needed to leave your vehicle.

Good info in those links. One of the local brew pubs, which had to close its doors to customers, is now making hand sanitizer using 70% IPA (isopropyl alcohol) and Aloe, just like in the PDF file. When I returned home a week ago, I used IPA to wipe down all 3rd party items I purchased at the grocery store.

Thank you, HDR, for removing wayward posts from this thread. :exclamation: :exclamation: +1.

The note says that there could be another later crisis even if we do all this. Well I did not need to know that.

I didn't get her name, but they interviewed a medical woman on NPR earlier this morning, and she said the hope is that several weeks of social distancing will help stop the current rate of spread, and that afterwards, they will mainly be concentrating on containing local "hotspots".

People liken this to the spread of forest fires in models. If the trees are far enough apart, then fire will spread "locally" and die out. If the trees are too close together, packed beyond the point called self-organized criticality, then the fire spreads rapidly over large areas. Of course, we who live in the western US, understand this, so they have been resorting to thinning of trees and underbrush, at least in some cases.

the gift that keeps on giving....

A vaccine is needed and hopefully one that even vaccine resistors will be thinking about getting after this experience

For each of the 50 states one of the best places to go for information regarding state wide announcements regarding Covid 19 is the office of the governor of the state. They are very easy to locate, just enter the name of the state and the words Governors office and it will turn up in the search results.

ok lets drop the IPA arguing.

this is a perfect example of defining your abbreviations. PLEASE DEFINE ALL ABBREVIATIONS THAT ARE NOT ON THE LIST IN THE RULES.

I very closely track data, projections and status messages in my local area.
I do however also find that it has value to compare to other regions and countries.

Here is a link to a page at the Financial Times, who use data from John Hopkins University, to daily share some global trends.

Todays text also includes a story, and some graphs, of selected city and regional developments.
