After about 48 hours of feeling like I had a weird cold of some sort, at my sons urging I popped open a Covid test kit I had in my cupboard, completed it, and it was positive within just a couple of minutes.

On the road and away from my PCP, I took the positive result, went into a local ER, asked to be seen and to be given Paxlovid.

I asked for Paxlovid because a nurse friend of mine has had Covid three times, and she described it a “game changer”.

It has to be administered early in your illness to be optimally effective, tho, and after just three doses I feel almost completely normal.

Not everyone can take Paxlovid, I am told, but there are other antivirals out there that are also effective.

I am posting this to share these resources for free, at home tests: https://seniorcovidtests.com/ , or https://www.tests.milorx.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIzf7vq_Cp_QIVMRPUAR03wA5rEAAYAiAAEgK9TfD_BwE, or https://www.covid.gov/tests.

Also, because of these factors:

Fully vaccinated and boostered, I have been lax for months about wearing a mask indoors, and this not only may well be why I got Covid but before I knew I had it my maskless self probably infected others.

If you become ill with what you think is “just a cold”, consider testing yourself for Covid, as early treatment may be the difference between quickly returning to health or becoming seriously ill. Or, worse.

You may save yourself, and others you unknowingly infect.

You can get the tests for free, use them and replenish as needed, and know for sure.

Having to isolate while ill is a pia, but becoming seriously ill while traveling is a nightmare.

There is our rig to deal with, also our dependent animals.

And so, wanted to share my little event and some information that may be of help to others.

In Arizona there is also a respiratory virus that is highly contagious and difficult to get over not to mention the flu so good idea to keep wearing a mask and social distance. We also had Covid after two shots and two boosters of Moderna but it was not bad enough to go to the hospital. My wife never completely got rid of her occasional deep cough but about two weeks ago caught the respiratory disease and shared it with my, now we both have drainage and a deep cough but no fever. Both of us tested negative for Covid which was a relief but seems we are having a more difficult time getting rid of this than Covid!
