    Microwave_what do u cook?

I use mine for potatoes, heating up foods, making frozen burritos, hot pockets, pot pie and microwave meals. It's a $35 700 watt special from Walmart that pulls just over 1000 watts running. The solar and bank support extended runs during the day and a 4 minute run for murritos at midnight isn't...

    battery cable size

Is all you are going to do is charge them? I ask because the cable between the batteries has to handle your biggest loads or combination of loads. So if your inverter calls for 2 gauge you will need at least 2 gauge between the batteries. I plugged in 12 volt, 45 amps and 1 foot, it said 12...

    Alphicool sale

I noticed that the 15 and 20 were both under $200 while looking up fridges for someone a bit ago. For a dweller that does not need a lot of space it $200 and $300 that are larger too.

Making a solar oven with reflective mylar.

350 degrees is plenty hot enough. That meal in a gas oven still takes time to cook.

    About generators?

First off many of us have and use generators as needed. We are considerate of those around us as we do it. Some MSW generators are better than others. You will have to see what will and will not run on it. Remember that not even all inverter generators are all that. I have seen sine waves that...

Completely unlimited & unthrottled mobile data

A add on antenna can improve your signal but not nearly as much as a booster will. That said, I am always out in the boonies and rarely need my booster.

House Solar Panel on RV, do you have first hand experience doing this?

I want to add that I use at least six mounting feet on a big panel and eight on a 435 watt.

Maximum safe wattage for Renogy Rover 40 amp

Actually you want matching panels. Mixing voltages in parallel will cause the MPPT to hunt. Mixing them in series will cause the lower power panel to create two lower powered panels. Since mono and poly panels react to varied light differently, I would highly suggest sticking to whatever you have.

Best Internet Solutions for US Nomads?

There are places that Verizon is the only option just as there are others that are only AT&T. The thing is that there are also many places that Verizon is so overloaded that it is unusable leaving AT&T the only option by default. Even lowly Sprint was a better option than Verizon in Quartzsite...

Cricket finally kicking me to the curb

I try to tell people that the carriers know but I do not often hear of them nailing someone. The latest $5b 4G hotspot, the 7730L is kicking speeds as high as the 30's on a good signal. The less expensive 6620L will get up to the higher teens and occasionally into the 20's. Rarely have I seen a...

What Is The Best Generator To Run Dorm Fridge & AC?

Most roof mount RV A/C's require a 3000 series inverter generator except at high altitude where they stop having the guts to start them at around 8000 ft. There is a new 9000 BTU 12v roof A/C that pulls just 600 watts but it's nearly $2000. There have been people that claim their 2000 series...

    2018 RTR Gratitude Thread

I am grateful for many things here but most of all HDR, Timmy, Alex and others in our camp that kept Max walked, me fed and at times made sure I had some time alone. Without this I could not have helped nearly as many as I did. The bottles of 1800 tequila that kept showing up have been...

    Giving kudos

A van, or at least a regular height van may not be for you then. High tops afford you the ability to stand unless you are taller like I am. That is why I have a travel trailer and even then I have to duck under the light fixtures. There are also a variety of other rigs here fulfilling different...
