Weak and tired by midday now that I sleep in the van

With the life changes you are going through, you may have trouble turning off the continuous mind processing of things to do. If I wake in the night or just can't get to sleep, I keep a pen and pad next to my bed, so I can write down those repetitive thoughts or to-do items that are keeping my...

MINI-BUS!! NO.. step van.. NO.. mini-bus.. Nonono...

Willie, IMO, Buses are cool, but not easy to build out, due to curved ceilings and multiple windows. Not all minibuses have good ceiling height, either (built for children). My personal preference is a step van, for obvious reasons. Good luck on finding one in good shape and reasonable cost. Bob

    Step truck VS cube van

For me the deciding factors would be the headroom to stand up straight (once the floor and ceiling were insulated), the width to allow a side to side murphy style bed, and the total square feet of floor space. For the engine I would prefer the one that is the easiest to maintain and find...

Cooking Chunky soup with aluminum foil in pot?

Zil, you said: "The field mess would have a 30 gallon can of boiling water with canned meals in the hot water. We would scoop a can for a pot luck type choice of diet. a hot can and a p38 was fun." In my opinion, opening a can with a Walther P38 could be very messy. :D :D :P

    Uhaul Super Stealth-Box

Hey, Caleb Been following your build. Good use of recycled materials. Curious about one thing ... How much interior height do you have, after building a false ceiling to allow for the rollup back door? I have considered building a box van or step van rolling home, and interior walkaround height...

If you sleep in car, would it be bad for your back?

Hey, Pikachu Have you thought of removing the back seat and the partition to open up to the trunk? I have seen such arrangements that build a flat bed platform about 48" wide and over six feet long, then put in a 4-6" foam mattress to sleep on. Bob

    My Dad died this morning

Brad, Sorry for your loss. I know you and your Dad were close. Take solace from the care you were able to give him while he was at home. I lost my Mom and Dad a number of years ago, and they still visit me in my dreams (about only the good times). They are smiling, healthy, and happy. Regards, Bob

    Clan Graham,

I have seen horror stories about using spray foam inside metal vehicles, due to the uncontrollable expansion of foam that can distort and cause ripples or bulges in the metal. A better alternative, I think, is ridged foam sheets that can be cut and trimmed to fit in the...
