I have been lurking anonymously for weeks now gathering information as I approach becoming a van dweller. I am single and currently work construction on a pretty good crew that have been able to stay busy during the winter (so far). I am widowed and recently coming off an unhealthy relationship. I am entering into this lifestyle to save money and reacquaint myself with who I am as a person and the world around me. I plan to stay in this area as a stealth van dweller for a little while to adjust to the lifestyle. My family lives in this area and that will allow me a support network initially.

I have a 1995 Chevy Astro Mark III conversion van. It is not a high top but it is what I have and what I will use initially. After much research I will begin the process of creating a livable space within the Astro. I plan to build a bed platform and some sort of wash, water, cook area. I plan to use a portable toilet and use auxiliary batteries, an invertor and a solar panel. I must have internet and will utilize my iphone as a hotspot until a better option presents.

I am thankful for Bob and the other members of this board for empowering me to take this step and provide invaluable information. Any suggestions, ideas or comments are welcomed and appreciated.

Hi kylakemike;

Lurking here is fun but making the move to joining in means more fun for you and us!

Welcome from Canada, Florida and heading for Texas and AZ soon *laugh*...

Thanks so much to all for the warm welcome. This truly feels like a grass roots board. Everyone is so approachable and ready and willing to provide information and support. I have enjoyed reading the forums and stories many of you have shared. It empowers me. Thank you all so much.

Greetings from Idaho, coolest place in the U.S. (my presence causes this).

Welcome to the group, I'll be fun to follow your progress.

@Scar,

Don't take it too personally but please stay away from UT, CO and AZ for the next little while. It'll be cold enough for this ole girl from Florida .:D

Nicole

@ Scar, you are correct. Idaho is beautiful.

@ SoxAndNicole, thanks so much for the warm welcome.
