    shared ground for seperate batteries?

I think this is safe, but I want to make sure I won't be causing any damage. Is it ok to hook up my house battery to common ground? Coach and House will have separate paths for each positive side of their respective circuits. Thank you.

    Advice on electric.

How about getting a library card? You could probably sit in a library all day and use their power and wifi without anyone saying anything.

    inverters

Don't forget that typically devices run on DC. So, even if you are only losing 10-15% to convert that DC to AC, there is a second power loss while converting back to DC that needs to be factored.

    Advice on electric.

Check out this link: http://globetrooper.com/notes/solar-power-macbook/ They even show you how to read your adapter to determine the power requirements. Also, tell us what model mac you have. You definitely can buy DC to DC converters. http://www.mikegyver.com/

Running a Computer Off a Battery

There are a lot of variables in your question that need to be answered, and even then, I don't think anyone will be able to tell you definitively how long your battery would last. The best answer you will get will probably just be suggestions on how to maximize battery life. An inverter is...

How much wattage needed to heat a van in 12-32 deg. temps?

Your heater might be defective. I have a cheapo 1500w oil filled heater and it gets so hot that I don't want to touch it.

    Alternative to plywood?

I went to the local van and rv show and walked through all sorts of different units. I looked closely at the cabinetry construction, and all but the most expensive models used 1x1 frames skinned with very thin plywood. I'll be using 1x2s and 5mm (0.19") luan plywood for my construction.

Soldering vs crimping? And joining 3 wires

I've always thought that soldering was the best way to connect wires, and crimping was the shortcut. However I've been reading that heating the wire hardens then and makes them brittle. Thus they are easier to break. As I understand, boats and planes don't allow soldered connections. So, I've...

    cab insulation?

re: cab insulation I am going to install a swivel on the passenger seat so it can be part of our "living space." We will only have occasional nights in the cold weather, so my goal is to minimize the amount of work the heater will need to do. I ordered some prodex which is basically a cheaper...

Poll - How helpful is insulation?

It seems to me, an insulated van with the windows open is like standing in the shade. Without insulation, all of the sun's heat warms the metal and then continues to radiate into the van. The goal with the insulation is to block the sheet metal from radiating.

    cab insulation?

I think I have the cargo area of my 2007 e250 figured out. What's the best way to thermally insulate the cab? Is there room to fit 1/2" polyiso above the headliner or behind the door panels? Are reflextix or ez cool the only options for these areas? BTW - On a side note, I looked under the...

    Insulating the floor.

I'm curious about this as well. I'm about to give my van a floor, and I've been thinking about the grooves. Currently, my thought is to use 1/2" polyiso and 3/8" plywood covered in linoleum. will the polyiso compress and fill the voids in the floor? Also, what is the best way to attach the...

    plastic connectors part number?

Does anyone know the part numbers for the ridiculous little plastic connectors that hold the plastic trim pieces on the side and back door of a 2007 e250? Thank you!

    E-250 stealth conversion

This is an amazing thread! You do great work, and it's certainly giving me ideas while I plan out my build! I noticed in one of your pics you had cut out the inside sheet metal on the rear doors did you build some shelving into them? If so, do you have any pics of what you did? Thank you!
