    high top in Texas

You may want to look around for used wheelchair vans.  You can sell the lift and seats and have a sweet platform for your conversion.

    Hammock as a bed

My personal temperature record in hammock camping in the winter is -5 F. If you're going to hang in that kind of weather, you'll need a down under quilt and a down top quilt. The under quilt attaches the bottom of you hammock. The top quilt goes over you. Together they form a nice toasty...

    Hammock as a bed

I haven't used a hammock as a in a vehicle.  But, I have done some hammock camping.  Your biggest challenge will be finding mounting points far enough apart for you to have a comfortable lay in the hammock.  You will probably need to use the entire length of the van,  Also, there are different...

How do you deal with stress?

Maybe it's just me.  Looking back at my life persons of the female gender have been the predominant source stress in my life.

    $100000 is insane, financially ?

Actually that'd be the "Blow a Wad on an RV and NOT Living" website.  LOL

    $100000 is insane, financially ?

Problem is most are so poorly built, they depreciate at an astounding rate.

Of a certain age and earning money on the road.

Kewl!  Yellowstone beats roasting in Iowa all summer!  Nice score. Congrats.

Of a certain age and earning money on the road.

The fact they would reject you for something so trivial as your choice of camping vehicle speaks volumes and only confirms their general attitude towards their help.

Of a certain age and earning money on the road.

If I remember correctly Brain shared a site with another work camper who had a class C motor home.   FWIW - I've heard less than positive reviews about work camping at Adventureland.  The common complaint seems to be excessive micromanagement and a general lack of respect for their employees...

    E-350 Wheelchair Van

Hey Folks, I'd like your opinion on this van.  It's a 2003 Ford E-350 with a high top with less than 100K miles for 8 grand.  I'm thinking if I strip out the seats and a wheelchair lift, it has the makings of a pretty nice rig.  ...

No more Bank or America for me

I moved to a credit union years ago and haven't looked back.  I get much better service and don't pay a nickel in fees.

    Living out of a Bicycle

That stove seems rather limiting. It looks like the only thing you can do with it is boil water. If I was to buy a wood burning stove I'd go with a Solo Stove. You can use any almost size pot. And, if you find yourself in an area where burning wood is prohibited, you can use it with a...

    Living out of a Bicycle

This thread is bringing back some nice memories. I  re-provisioned daily, as late in the day as possible to keep the weight down.  It was hit-or-miss especially in the small stores.  I remember stopping in one of those concession stores in Glacier National Park.  I was ravenously hungry from...

    Living out of a Bicycle

I never stayed more than one night at any campsite.  I didn't camp on posted land or anywhere with signs specifically prohibiting camping.  Was I breaking the law?  I don't know.  Since I practiced stealth and leave no trace camping it was "No harm No Foul" to me.  Or as some might say, "It's...

    Living out of a Bicycle

I never had a problem finding free campsites.  A small patch of woods was all I needed.   I didn't need a bucket either.  A small garden trowel to dig a cat hole did the trick.

    Living out of a Bicycle

I did quite a bit of self-contained bicycle touring in my younger days.  This included several long-distance trips.    Here are the pros and cons from my experience. PROs COST - There is no cheaper way to travel.  Period.  My only expense was food.   STEALTH - I could camp undetected...
