Just want to share YouTube videos by Don Carpenter. I like his style. He certainly has one tricked out conversion van. There are over 13 videos by Don on van living and I have found them informative and entertaining.

Watch "Living in a van in style part 10. Nice to have mo…" on YouTube

Always feel drunk watching videos like that. x.x

I'm not sure if I like the way Don does his videos, but they ARE very informative, and he's really got a great set-up for himself.

I'm curious about the solar collectors he's got in place of his windows. I've never heard of them, and he hardly talks about 'em either! :(

It was shot in the style of the Canadian TV series the Trailer Park Boys. LOL

Don likes to repeat the important theme of "stickin' it to the man!"

Did anyone catch the video showing his pile of cash around $25k worth?

Looks like he is definitely a fringe living person. Quite a lot of smarts to beat a system that would have any worker being poor. He is kind of rich in comparison in only minimum wage or minimum work.

I saw his videos before I found this forum, and I thought they were informative. What I didn't like, and thought very foolish, was him showing all the money he carries in his van. Very foolish indeed especially if you are going to put it out there for everyone to see.
I hope he's OK since I haven't seen any more "stickin' it" vids lately.

I have watched his video's before and I have no issues with them, I like the gadgets he shows off, I really like the solar window idea.....

I'm on phone data so I wont even bother with the video. So he thinks its a good idea to show cash on a you tube video? Ahhh OK. Did he have big letters on his forehead that say S T U P I D?

Hahahaha.....no doubt!! :dodgy:

with that much loose money, he should be investing for his future, or at least saving up for a 'round the word' roadtrip!!

....maybe it was Monopoly money??? :p

See that he has not posted any new videos for a while. Does any Portland van dweller folks know how he is doing? If he was driving a bus in portland four months ago, maybe he moved on back to Montana. Or maybe he got his pilot license for twin engine and he is now a pilot somewhere. Would be curious about how he is doing.

Yeah, can anyone find out how he's doing? I miss his videos. I like his candid style. If I had $25k in loose bills lying around, I'd be tempted to show it off too, haha! I thought I had video recording gadgets, but Don beats me hands down. I think Don is the only guy on YouTube that I actually have gadget envy for, Hyuck yuck! But I'm pretty sure I could show Don something new. :)

okay I just did not read the timeline on youtube. he has posted a compilation video on youtube in the last thirty days. so it seems he is doing fine. I found his email address in his notes and emailed him also to check. will see.

Don drives a casino charter bus. 3 days a week. 12-14 hours each.
Haven't seen him in a year, but we work for the same company and I know he is doing well. I have told him about this site many times. He is socialble when he wants to be. No more. No less.
Many members on this site can relate. His latest YouTube vid is a "music" vid. Very well done. All the electronic stuff he researched on line and by visiting local stores and asking lots of questions. He probably thinks anyone can do this, so doesn't want to be pestered with "how" and "where" inquiries.
