Great YouTube video on asserting your 4th amendment rights at road checkpoints.

Althought I agree with the video, this guy was just being an *******... A simple "yes" or "no" would have been a lot quicker than "am I being detained? I plead the fifth! No more questions!" Seems like a waste of time unless they're trying to search you without probably cause.

But, the DHS is required to ask these questions at certain checkpoints, and as far as I'm aware, these checkpoints are in place to catch illegal activity... and in many cases can get you arrested for attempting to abed illegal activity. My uncle worked at the CIA and had to wade through paperwork like this all the time.

This isn't a traffic stop, this is an immigration checkpoint well inside the US border. I would get pretty irate too if I had to go through this thing every day to and from work.

What the video didn't show was when he probably got hauled out and arrested.

That was a perfect example of how to get arrested I'd say, and that jerk would have deserved it. If they didn't arrest him, I'm ashamed of them, because he pretty obviously had something to hide. Normal people don't act that way, and answering a couple simple questions is a whole lot easier than what he did.

there is one guy who made a lot of these vids, he did get arrested, but it was an unlawful arrest and he also sued them. he even has the trial video up. you dont have to answer these guys, pull into secondary or any of that despite what they tell you. his job forces him to go thru this route with these checkpoints, and they cause traffic, and often go beyond the scope of what the law allows them.
