Someone asked why the video format. I just gave an unbiased reason. I didn't say it was good or bad. It can be both of course.

Some play their audience like a cheap TV preacher. Oh poor me I don't know what i am going to do, I need a transmission, Oh poor me I don't know what i am going to do, I need a Class C. Oh poor me I don't know what I am going to do, I joined a network for higher profits, now they have not paid me, etc. If only people would send me money every month in addition to the income I get from my channel, life could be so much better.

On the flip side, There are a larger number of people who put out good informational videos. Show me how to do something. Tell me about where you are and what is there. These are the videos that I watch. I don't care about your soap opera love life.

I enjoy watching informative video's, as someone may always come up with a better more efficient way of doing something.
What i dont understand is people complaining about people trying to make a little money from there video's. Im sure it takes a lot of thought and editing to produce a decent video. I really have to laugh at people complaining about e-begging, DUDE, if you Dont like it, Dont watch, and Dont donate, nobody's making you part with your money, its your choice. Its no different than people out begging on the streets, only difference is, the so called e-begger is actually giving you a product to get interested in, a soap opera, so to speak. You obviously like there content, or you wouldnt keep watching to even know if they are e-begging all the time.
I say if people would stop worrying about other peoples actions, if there not being hurt by them, and worry about their own, the world might just be a little less judgemental place to exist.  :D

Honestly, I hate videos.
Take a minute, write down some words, include a few photos, I'm happy.
Any link that I click on that goes to video is quickly killed by me before the action starts.

My posts state that I don't watch the e-beggers. Unlike you, I don't try to tell others what they should or shouldn't do. If you like the E-beggers that's just fine with me. Calling people Dude is not very respectful you know. Have a nice day Dude.

My post was not aimed at you, or any one in particular, sorry if it upset you. I don't consider "Dude" to be disrepectful, but to each there own. And for the record i didnt say i liked e-beggers, i actually have no opinion one way or another. My moto is live and let live, as long as you dont harm me, or my property.

People bring this up on reddit all the time like they have some sort of hatred toward content creators making money for providing entertainment and education.  Its the same as watching tv. No one hates the producer/director/actors/writers of Friends, Jacass, or NBC Nightly news for making money.  A yt usually fulfills all those roles

I save my scorn for overproduced YT channels that jump on a topic to make money or to be internet famous.  OTOH, I subscribe to and promote folks who share what they have learned in an open manner and end up getting an income stream for it.

Red flags that it may be primarily about money:
  • begging for subs / likes
  • trying too hard -- going for a commercial, produced look
  • talking head selfie videos that really should be podcasts instead
  • scripted dialog
  • repetitive and overly long intros/trailers
  • buying expensive gear and software for video production
  • branding on the vehicle, clothes, etc
  • logo bug
  • staged shots - camera emplaced and the van drives by, etc
  • suspiciously pretty people or provocative images featured in the preview.  This video has 4.6mil views; the comments indicate what the actual product is (and it's not the bus).
  • clickbaity titles
IMO Bob's videos are the kind I subscribe to while this kind of schlocky crap makes me want to punch the cheesebags in the face.

The underlying question is this:  what is the channel's primary function?

On a sidenote; FitRV appeared in an episode of Big Time RV last year to "help" their son/DIL buy their first rv --- there were multiple mentions of their rv, their YT channel, etc.
