Here's something I just read on another site.

Forest Service officials with Washington’s Cle Elum Ranger District are suffering from a “rug pull” sort of incident. For the last 15 years, several campgrounds in the district have been managed by concessionaire Thousand Trails. However, last December, Thousand Trails said it wouldn’t renew its contract – leaving the feds with too little time to find another. Result? The Forest Service is having to manage the campgrounds on their own and is desperate for campground hosts to help. Hosts will get $28 per day for generator and LP fuel expenses, but must be available on weekends and holidays. Two days’ training will be provided. For information, call 509-852-1100.

I'm almost thinking it might be worth getting a 20 ft trailer just to use for summer work camping and use my little cargo trailer the rest of the year. It wouldn't be bad having 3 months with air conditioning, etc during the summer. Just have to find a place to store it in the off season. 4 grand would probably get you something decent and it wouldn't be getting beat up on the road either.

I'm not sure how one determines this, but not all Corp of Engineer campground positions are volunteer.  Some camp hosts are paid.  A few years back I camped at Gillham Lake in Arkansas.  The octogenarian collecting camping fees was a widow.  She and her husband had worked at the lake for more than twenty years.  When he died, she continued working because she needed the money.  That was the first I had heard of paid positions.

At one of my favorite COE campgrounds on Lake Texoma, the camp host is paid.  I'm not sure he's there this year because he was offered a year-round, paid position at a Texas COE lake.  He was offered the position because the other camp host died suddenly and his wife did not want the job.  Yes, she was offered the job as a solo worker and declined.

Also on site at Texoma is a seasonal worker who mows the park using his own equipment.  He is also paid.  In all cases, campsites with full hookups are provided.  I don't know what the RV requirements are, but as far as Todd goes, I see happy dogs riding around on golf carts with the camp hosts all the time.  I think it's a requirement. :D

I heard one like that advertised on a call-in show in one of the towns I passed through in Texas. The guy had horses and dogs - sounded great, even a free apatment, but in a pretty barren area, also one in Las Vegas just to be a presence on the property, but Vegas is a tad hot.  I'll keep looking though -could be a good situation.

There are probably hundreds of people needing a house sitter. When I googled house sitter It came up with a half dozen web sites dedicated to it. I take it you register, post a profile, and if you fit the bill for someone, theyy contract with you. https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/search...isplay-v10~Chrome~house+sitter&p=house+sitter

here is a sample profile from one of them https://housesitter.com/house-sitte...t&uid=14923143874926hfv91lnq&e=2594&ccsrc=1k0

same situation. Got hired at two places off of coolworks. Both of them had snow likely all year round and when I searched for videos of the area in may and june there were 8ft snow banks.

The one wanted me as a night security guard. said I would mostly be telling other staff in their dorms to stay quiet and making sure they werent trying to sneak acohol in the common area.....yeah thats what I want to do, baby sit for 6 months in 8ft of snow

Im heading to my camphosting job next month, i got hired by american land and leisure at the big tent show. They did ask me what rig i had at the 'interview', i told them a campervan, if they imagine a roadtrek that's on them. They passed a look between them so i mentioned id work remote, didnt need hook ups, and they perked right on up and were eager to find me a site. It ended up having sewer anyway tho. They never asked or mention whether i was alone so singles must be normal, tho maybe not at all sites.

late reply but im hosting at grouse ridge, near nevada city, ca which covers several small lakes and campgrounds in the tahoe forest. My camp is at fuller lake, but i take care of rucker, blue, lower lindsey, carr lakes, plus 2 times a season i have to hike up to a few others to make sure they are relatively ok.

Its a lot of driving but they provide a 4x4 pickup. they have easier jobs but they usually arent as many pay hours.
