I agree ciggy plugs are basically junk. but this could also be a sign of a weak battery. 12.5 is low to begin with. highdesertranger

Yep, I haven't driven it since Sunday. I'm about to take it out on the hwy tonight. The van sits in the hot Florida sun during the day with no shade when the sun is over to the west..

Do not operate the fridge at low voltage. It will die.

I spent the afternoon cleaning the crud from the van's battery wiring and terminals. They needed it anyway but I was hoping I had a crappy ground or such that is affecting the power port in the dash. I load tested the starter battery and checked the voltage and all is good. There's just too much of a voltage drop between the Whynter cig plug , power port and the wiring from that to the starter battery. I didn't notice much of an improvement after cleaning it all up. I'm not going to be running the fridge from that port once I get my house battery bank but I can plug it in when I'm driving the van without a problem. Right now I have an ext cord running out to the van and am  running it off AC. I'm gonna run the crap out of the fridge to see if it's gonna hold up ok. I have about 25 days left to return it if anything goes wrong. The fridge is running great and doing what it's supposed to. Thanks
