^^^ so Doc, I'm reading that VPN's are not as secure as one might believe and there is usually some cost as well. I'm let to believe that a personal MiFi hotspot is more secure than a VPN, No?

Well I'm not an authority but I do have one as a friend at Recon.  ;)

Oh yes you're correct about that:  MiFi is wonderful but also expensive.  It's setting up your own hotspot with security so you don't have to use other's (like Lowe's, Barnes & Nobles etc).  Others can also use your hotspot if you let them, but it eats into your allotment.

I've been using xfinity wifi hotspots, comcast uses the modems it installs in their customers home to create public access wifi hotspot. They offer one hour of access for free, once a day twice a month. There is no login, your device is identified by an ipv4 and ipv6 address, so each wifi adapter I own can get two hours a month.

I've noticed that "infinity wifi" when I view my wifi network...was wondering what that was. (I'm currently in a home with comcast. I've been a customer of theirs for 15 years or more so I wonder why they never TOLD ME THIS! hurumph

Thanks!
