What do you guys recommend for picking up weak wifi?

I was looking at Halo Long Range Marine & RV Wi-Fi Extender System

Ideally, I would like to get something cheaper as it's not something I will probably need that often. However, I may need something soon.

This is really easy, and cheap too, if you are just needing MORE range, not MAXIMUM range.

These will increase your range to roughly 1/8 to 1/4 mile or so if you buy the adapter AND an external antenna. The range is always dependent on the access point, and assumes there is an outside antenna at both ends of the connection.

alfa 36 nhr cost about 30 dollars on ebay. You plug it into the usb connection on your laptop. For best performance is if you mount the antenna outside, the range is tremendous. But I use mine inside my van and can still get good connections. You can connect different type of antennas for better range.

The one in amazon that is too expensive, you can buy the square unit which is actually an alfa r36 for 60 dollars and just use your own antenna. But I use to own one of the alfa r36 and it was always disconnecting me. I don't use it anymore.

There are different models of the alfa, some use different circuitry to receive signals. Some work better in some areas etc. I have different ones. The alfas are the best for recieving wifi signals, I been using them for years. With these you can get signals when your parked across the street from where they have free wifi. With the right antenna the range can be many blocks away.
