Scary video for campers and more floating down flash flood

Motor homes swept away and buildings destroyed
Torrential flash floods have destroyed builkdings and swept away cars after severe storms hit Arizona.

Up to 3,000 home and businesses were left without power as more than 50 electricity poles were knocked down, according to the Arizona Public Service.

Work was taking place on Sunday morning to reconnect power supplies in parts of the state.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued by the National Weather Service for Maricopa County early in the evening on Saturday before flooding hit the state's capital and largest city Phoenix.

The Arizona Republic reported that flooding was especially bad near a caravan park in Wickenburg, where the water swept away part of the road and made it impossible for people to go in either direction.

Vehicles floated downstream to the Hassayampa River.

There were no reports of injuries.

It's the first of the results of an El Nino year in the Pacific.

It could be a very long and wet monsoon season followed by a very wet winter in the southwest.

This satellite photo of 4 cyclones in the western Pacific was taken in July 7, 2015. It's the earliest this many have formed this early in recorded history.

Unfortunately droughts usually end with flooding events.  Just happened here in Texas this Spring.

It almost never rains in Southern California in the summer.

Except today. It started at 2:30 pm and has been light to moderate for 8+ hours now. Yesterday mornnig, we got about a half an inch, with a bunch of thunder too. No wind though.

They were calling for a 10 to 20% chance of rain.

Also A bridge has collapsed on I-10 between LA and Arizona in the tiny town of desert center.
Highway closed indefinitely.
