Me. I do . OK not very often. But today I did. I bought some nice black out curtains for the back and front and a nice comforter set. On credit. I know just fessing up. I don't do it often but darn I wanted something nice for it. I don't understand either cause I'm the kind of person who shops with friends and I go home empty handed. Always. Do you think I need help? LOL Just joking.

I used to but was always more of the spendthrift type. I became much more of a miser when the economy turned sour though. I'm working on putting every penny into paying off my bills so that I can start this life debt free. Technically I do still splurge but only like to do that by treating myself to a meal someplace special and expensive.

Yeah I know what you mean. Im almost there my self(paying off other people). I don't owe much (whew). I feel the couple whose husband went to retire then couldn't because the wife was a spender behind his back. I never really was a big spender until I had credit. Even though I have it now Im more wary of it. I had credit for 2 years now I think I used it 3 times. Not bad. Yet Im still having a hard time saying it was OK. Maybe I should just get rid of them again. it bothers me too much. LOL

Don't beat yourself up over it ... What you bought was going toward your goal. Just pay it back down as soon as you can so as not to pay interest on these purchases.

Credit is insidious; it makes spending too easy, and the balances can creep up quickly.

Suggestion: Select one thing at a time you want ... that advances your freedom day ... and save for it. If you do, you will get great satisfaction when you acquire it.

Bob

Thanks Bob I really can't believe this bothers me so much but that was the point of getting those 2 items. Yes thats what I'll do pay it off pronto. Im saving now. Thats a good idea. Next month ......a red stove....just joking. I really want a blue one.

The funniest thing is the company emailed me that the black out curtains I want are out of stock and they will have them next month. Works for me. That means I did my quota for 1 item a month HEHEHEHE.

Living in a confined space limits the splurging, for sure! That's definitely a good thing no matter how you look at it!

I totally agree with you. I just want something nice for in the van. I saw this comforter and believe me I looked every where else...no where.

She
I needed black out curtains also, I happen to know a fellow that has an upholstery shop, told him what I was doing and he used left over fabric, that I picked out, sowed them together in about 15 minutes. added Velcro to the corners done .. very cheap.. If you have a custom upholstery shop in the neighborhood might be worth checking out. Or picking up rementants and having someone that sews do the edges.

Putz

As always I agree 100% with Putz. I was looking for a new sleeping pad for the camper but they were all very expensive. I stopped at an upholstery shop and he had a bunch of scraps he could glue together to make one pad very cheap. I'm still sleeping on that pad 3 years later and it is as good as new. Bob
Im taking your advice. What I did was to cancel the drapes. They weren't going to have them until next month so I had that choice. There are a few shops around here that do the things you mentioned. I will check them out.
