What's your favorite mod/mods in you van?

Not having a fixed bed or couch, just a 4" thick foam trifold mattress on the floor. The floor having a layer of yoga mats and a soft removable rug on top.

You can then sit on the floor and lean on the folded mattress, fold out one section and sit on it like a couch without legs, or unfold it completely into a bed. It can be positioned to face forward or sideways. Sideways you can only unfold it into the couch-like position though.

When its folded up there are quite a few different ways to stow it. That makes it easy to use the van to haul larger things like firewood or a lot of groceries. You end up with more headroom too because you are pretty much living on the floor.

It would be ideal with a swivel passenger seat, that way you can actually get into a real sitting position at times.

I like the option of moving your bed around to what ever suits you at the time. I would miss the storage space that we have under the bed. I'm probably not minimalist enough.

A cargo box on the roof for less often used things, and couple of small bins with lock tops that float around the van to make up for the lost space.

Personally I wouldn't  be without my rear window covers.   The privacy and shade that they offer makes it one of my favorite mods.  It's simple, affordable, and easily installed.

I was looking into something similar last month ,  i was going to use the cushion off of a lawn chair , only problem most of them come in some very bright colors.

Before you use a cushion off of a lawn chair/chaise lounge, make sure that it does not have any buttons.

BTDT, tried using the chaise lounge cushion to sleep on one weekend before I got the interior of the van built. The buttons that were spaced about every 8" throughout the cushion, were designed much like a rivet. I had thought they were about the same as tieing off with yarn when you do some types of quilting but NO!!!! They worked fine on the lounge chair but when laid on the floor of the van were VERY uncomfortable to say the least.

Held up well for a year, i expect another year before the foam loses its cushion. Not bad for what I think we paid around $100.
