.....you ever used? I was planning on getting a very large battery. Actually 2 but they wouldnt be staying in the van together. They will be switched out..on a cart. The reason? i dont want to use a generator or depend on getting electric from my job. Yes I will be job camping. If I got a larger battery Im thinking I can use a solar panel for the one Im not using and just switch. terrible idea? remember Im not too worried about weight because Im not traveling ...yet.

If you have a very big wallet full of $$ you can get a 12 volt 8D battery, & a battery box for it too, close to $400.oo ++ or so & you might want to get someone to help you lift it---180+ lbs, lots of reserve power,I don't have the spects, you look it up,Battery's Plus will gladly sell you one of (2).
 I have (3) 4D battery's in my basement for solar power,not hooked up yet--because I can't Lift them,there still on a pallet.

Ha now thats big!! Im looking for something a wee bit smaller. But it looks good. So you keep them in your basement so its not used for traveling at all? Your setting your house up for solar? Thats cool.

I have taken (1) camping once lasted a week, I had (1) 15 watt solar panel with me---laying on the Dash-See avatar) blue Van,but i also had my Casita with me---it has it's own Battery. the battery weighs more than me for sure,I got it used from a truck Mechanic friend.
sparky1 in s.va.

Thanks Blkjak you explain that real well, So in other words I need lots of batteries!! Just kidding. I actually wont be using a lot only because I am right now camping at work. I charge everything in the company car. Laptop too. Small batteries I charge using a solar one. So its just for cooling with fans sometimes(cause they run on batteries too). I can forgo the heater I was going to get and just use my propane one. Agm battery is what i want to use. Nice to see you again Blkjak!!

I have two house power solar units to power my needs... a 45w panel to power 2 12v deep cells, and a 185W panel to power my 8D which works very well... The 8D is in a battery box and fits perfectly between my seats with 2 inverters attached 2500W-5000w and a 400W cobra... works very well for this full timer with power to give away, fat and happy... I paid like $150.00 for my 8D and like $60.00 for the box....

My van came with one of those "harbor frieght" special 45W units, so i dont know what was paid for that but around $200 I think is what they are asking... As for my 185W monocrystaline I paid $235 for it in Victorville... Dimension on the 185W is like 5x3 foot or some where around there...

Im with Sparky on this one. I think an 8D battery is about as big as you want to go and humping one aint no joke! I have 4 that are easy to access on my 37ft boat and I DO NOT look forward to replacing one of them about once a year! They are great though with about 200 amp hours on tap, just take their weight into consideration when you place them so it aint so difficult to man handle them. Mine last about 4-6 years of pretty hard use.
