I will be using 2 GC batteries and mount 1 SP on my new yakima mega warrior rack that will mount on the crossbars over my bubble-top 2001 E350 XLT. What would you get if you were still earning money and cost was a minor factor. ( I am doing my homework ) just do not have first hand experience. I will not be needing a lot of power and have the locations worked out. Thank you all.

as much as you can afford. can never have to much solar. well maybe you can but not on a van roof. highdesertranger

I am installing my battery bank this weekend. Got it about half done today. I have three group 29 deep cycle 12v batteries in my battery box. They are regular flooded batteries for now. I am going to see how they work out. When they eventually wear out they will probably be replaced with their AGM versions.

I will be ordering my solar panels next week when I get paid again. I am going with two 145 watt panels for a total of about 290 watts right now. I would like to add two more of these panels in the future.

In my dreams I'd like to have six panels (my roof could fit them). That would give me almost 900 watts worth of solar on the roof. I could actually run the air conditioner off of that during the day and keep the van cool. My air conditioner is rated at 700 watts so it might even work.
