I currently have Safeco on my truck, and my trailer is covered by whatever is towing it. I don't carry full coverage on the trailer so they don't care what is inside of it. I did have Progressive, and still do on my motorcycle (they're the cheapest for bikes at least in CO). At the time I was working for someone else but used my truck to carry my tools to the job. I was up front with what I was doing. First they said I could be on a personal policy, then they changed it to a commercial policy because they said I was working out of it, and of course raised my rate. Then they non renewed me because I was carrying more than 500 lbs of tools. Well no duh - If I was only carrying 500 lbs of tools I would drive a Subaru - not a 3/4 ton diesel! I never could get a straight answer as to why they changed twice when I didn't change what I was doing and I was upfront with them. Then, to top it off, when I went back to being self employed they tried to get my business back on a commercial policy - with the same truck! left a bad taste in my mouth. I'm really tempted to change my motorcycle policy also - even though it will cost me a few bucks.
