I found this RV on Craig's List: https://appleton.craigslist.org/rvs/6137061198.html  (1998 Fleetwood Tioga class c motorhome. It has a v10 engine and has under 52k miles. Starts runs and drives great was well maintained) and it's in my price range.  Unfortunately the couch and dinette are gone, as is the TV---the owners used it for a mobile pet grooming business. It was stored indoors and has no leaks per owner.  I like the layout but am not sure how much it would cost to put in a new couch and dinette.

Any concerns or advice?  TIA!

It would be easy peasy to make a dinette or even go to a rv junk yard for one. I was concerned by the pic that shows the overhead bunk. Blow it up and see if it doesn't look screwy. I "think" I see water damage on the bed part but I'm not sure?

Seems like a couple grand less than others for sale (similar age/type). However, no working AC, warning light for air bags on and missing interior furnishings? If it was me, I'd keep looking.

You might want to use Nada guide to make sure pricing is in line for condition/features.

Wow!  You have great eyes!  I do see what you're talking about---looks fishy......ty for pointing this out!

Anyone that has washed a dog knows how wet EVERYTHING gets.
Check out the flooring and sidewalls for moisture damage, rotting wood, soft floors..

Between the potential water damage and faulty AC (which may or may not be $$) Id do some heavy negotiating. Figure out the price for a replacement AC ($600) , and new seating ($1,000 -2,000) and offer
the difference.?

You can  fix the ac and seating for lots cheaper if you are handy and want to do the work?

When you go in person to check things out, trust your nose. The class C I had, when I first looked at it, smelled musty. The salesman assured me that was just because it was hot and it had been closed up. I should have trusted my instincts because there HAD been a leak in the overhead bed area and after owning it for several years there was a downpour where I lived and it recurred, that seam where the front meets the side...there is this flexible tape in there. Well over time that decays and might look good but in a downpour water gets behind it and right into the overhand area. It was so bad that the wood was rotten in the right corner area of the bed. I had to spend a pretty penny to get it fixed and I did disclose it when I sold it. So something to be looking for. The smell is a dead giveaway.

Ford gas engines of that era have a well known problem with their spark plugs, the V-10 included. the only Ford engine of that era that I would consider owning is the 7.3 diesel. highdesertranger

What StarEcho says. Open the door, step in and smell it. This thing is like a clean slate, you can make it any way you want. It carried dogs. Along with the things you see, there are the things you don't see, so be careful..

Maybe you looked at my class C before I bought it!  Same issue, I ended ripping out the cab over and rebuilding it, 2x2 framing and plywood was rotted.  Wondered why the owner kept it stored on a slant away from the leaky area, duh...

I got that done without too much difficulty, it was the fresh plugs that hid the bad rings that oil fouled the plugs after about 1,000 miles that really pissed me off, oh and the 2nd gas tank never worked, and the alternator wasn't charging...

Just "basic wear and tear" like the owner told me!

But I paid my "tuition" and learned a lot... mostly to take someone else with me who could check them, ahem...

So don't buy a 1984 Midas 22' GMC with a 350 motor that's all shiny...  :D
