verizon now has a 70 gig a month plan before they throttle
speed to 600kbs -
I just switched over to this plan and it costs the same as i was
paying for a 22gig plan - BUT was charged a wopping $90 for changing
plans

other wireless companies are upping data amounts so look at
your plan and see if you can get higher throttle points-

Is this a phone plan or just a data or jetpack/data type plan? If phone plan does it provide hotspot? Thanks

It is 75G phone data 20G hotspot data.  I also signed up for it.  I burned through the hotspot data in about 5 days watching Netflix (oops)  :D

The 600kbps after you burn through the 20GB isn't absolutely terrible.  I am using it right now to type this...the forum loads fine.   I can watch Netflix or Amazon shows in low quality with just a pause or two at the start.  It seems to get better as you watch, by 5 minutes into the show it is normalish quality.

The problem starts when my wife logs onto her computer and we both try to use the 600kbs.  It slows to a crawl.   I figured I was losing about $500 a day trying to trade stocks like that so I just ordered cable internet for when we are in our apartment.  It will pay for itself in about 10 minutes of stock market trading.

Too bad Cricket finally caught up to me after 2 years of using their unlimited plan.  It didn't really support hotspot but you could make it work.  It was about 4Mbs which was just fine for what I do.  Verizon on the other hand is like a hawk.   There is no easy way to unthrottle your hotspot usage after you hit 20GB without a VPN and phone root.  Even then I hear they monitor packets and such.

One would think I could get better internet at $95 a month than the folks who get it for $5 a month.  Something seems a bit off there.

Those grey market schemes are actually stealing from VZW through crooked employees, and can get shut down anytime.

For those trying to conserve data using Netflix, you can adjust your settings/preferences down to "low" (0.3 GB/hour) up to High (7 GB/hr. for ultra HD) and in between. The default is "auto" so you can consume a lot more data than you intended if you don't adjust.

Where do you go to make that adjustment? Netflix.com? Or on your TV? Thanks for the info.
