I have a Chevy Express with a security system just installed but never got to talk to the guy who did the installation. The horn will chirp its called if a window is touched fairly lightly and if any window is hit the horn blares like heck.
The question, do any of you sleep in your van with the security alarm armed? I would test it but I've pissed off the neighborhood enough playing with it, had to apologize a few times.
Will just moving around cause the alarm to go off?
Does anyone know if it's legal to tazer someone if they are braking into your van while you are sleeping in it? I would think so, and I would be SO careful not to run over him as I drive off!

Maybe I'll try setting the alarm while I'm in it and move around and see what happens. I'll find a parking lot though. I was kidding about running over the burglar. But tazing would be better than using a gun, I just cleaned the dash with Armour All. Brains would be really messy to clean off.

I would never get a wink of sleep. The damn thing would be going off any time a bird flew by or the wind gusted or some shopper at Walmart walks too close. And ruin any possibility of "stealth".

IMHO, the remote possibility of anyone trying to break into the van while I am in it, isn't worth worrying about.

It reminds me of backpackers who pee their pants over "bears!!!" and "snakes!!!"

Mine goes off when a motorcycle drives by, so it's really pretty useless.
If I'm in the van and someone is getting too nosy, I can hit the panic button to sound the alarm and most likely end the encounter right there.
If someone was actually entering the van with ill intent, I wouldn't worry about the legalities of using whatever weapon I have available, including a stun gun (which is apparently illegal in my state but I can go to any farm store and buy a cattle prod - how does that make sense?)

I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. But I feel that's not real likely especially if you use your head and don't park in an area where a break in is likely to happen.

Lock the doors, cover the windows. You can always hit the panic button if your vehicle has a key fob. Id think setting your alarm while inside is just too much extra work. You forget it's on and open a door, etc. I'd think someone breaking in would wake you up.

Go out in the boonies to test it.

The sensitivity should be adjustable. If you can connect with the installer, he or she can do that.

A .357 does not need any adjusting. It works every time.

Add a $300 green laser sight for confident reliability.

This gives me something to look into, if it has a panic button. It doesn't have a red button that is labeled "panic" like my old car had, but I must have something like if I press lock for a few seconds. Now that I type this I think I remember that is what it does.
I know I would not hesitate to stop, hurt, maime, and then kill someone to protect myself. Just would rather not get into that situation, but you know these days there is violence f,n everywhere. My next door neighbor had a stray bullet go through their house last week, drug dealers.

Hey Breeze, my DH has .357s and he says it would be too much gun for me. I have a S&W 38 Special revolver that my grandfather used during the depression era, he was a traveling salesman. I named her Janice, nickel with pearl handle. Just love that gun, very accurate. Revolvers are much easier for me than those darn automatics.

Ps, I thought lasers were red

There are a number of ways you can quiet the horn(s), the easiest is to stuff a sock in it/them.
My 'security alarm' is always armed - it's a beagle.

As to the legality of tazing someone entering your sleeping space, internet forums are one of the worst places to get that information.

Green lasers are new and supposedly are more visible in sunlight.

A Glock 9mm (G19) is the accuracy champion and easy to aim (and you can get a 36 round clip too.) But a .357 (G32) is the panic button short range defense: it'll take a limb off, lol. The Green laser sites can be seen for 200 yards and better in bright lights, much (over 3X) farther than the red laser sites that are made for shorter distance in the dark.

Both of these models are a 'compact' model size and almost twins with many of the same parts. I like the 3rd Generation since there are reliability questions on the new 4th and 5th Gen models with parts made of plastic for lighter weight. An Austrian made Glock is definitely a precise, reliable, and accurate weapon (and cheap(er) compared to a S&W.)

I can def hit a man 12 feet away (length of van) although taking a limb off does sound very effective but there is always the drawback of having to clean up all the blood and bone. Maybe my insurance would cover that! I'm not going to ask that tho. Lol
I have two very senior dogs. One is deaf and the other is crippled. Both incontinent and would not make good traveling companions. But their breath is toxic, so there is that.

I'm not usually this bloodthirsty, but the attack today in NY pisses me off. At least the terrorist was shot in the abdomen so that will be painful.

I prefer a W-88 warhead with a 200KT yield. It's the only way to be sure.

As long as you have to clean it up in the first place; you could always see if whatever companion animal(s) you're traveling with is hungry ....

LOL, that is true. Very nutritious and economical. High protein with tiny bits of calcium and other minerals, oh and plenty of iron. Too funny.
Sit and be quiet Rover and we will have din-din in just a minute....
Dilly dilly!!!!

True, true, ... but with laser sights, you can 'immediately' aim precisely between the eyes, so a 9mm will pass through 2 skull perimeters and one brain: enough possibly to slow the bullet down so it doesn't go through your vehicle wall/window. Most importantly, the 'snitch' trespasser will be immediately terminated and have no chance to harm yourself or loved ones!

To maximize opportunities, in case they are wearing a bulletproof vest, aim between the eyes and the sternal head (see bottom label on figure below, which 'could' be a trespasser just hit between the eyes.) Ymmv. The question is, "Do you feel lucky? Well do you?"

The 'only' advantage you have over a felon snitch thief is a legal right to carry a concealed weapon (with spot light and laser sight.) Take advantage of the odds that 'are' in your favor.

Nice graphic, so many choices..... too bad I only have five bullets, I keep the top chamber empty, not sure why but that is how my dad taught me.
I need a dog, thinking a schnauzer mix.
