Utilizing a Carrier Split AC unit in my E-350 Handicap High Top?

So I just bought a 2011 E-350 with a handicap ramp and an installed EM-7/CM-2 Carrier Split AC System.  

Can I run this system for a long time without running the engine and just tie in a large battery bank to keep it going for a few hours?

It has it's own compressor in the engine, condenser is skirt mounted and a 35,000 BTU evaporator in the rear. It should pull 31 Amps when on high. That would be DC power right?

 I can only imagine if it has the battery size it can run without the alternator/engine turning. But Ive read alot about overheating the compressor because you're not moving and I can't seem to find anyone who has done this.

do you have a link to that AC? I can't find it on Carrier's website.
31amps is a huge draw on batteries.
35k BTU is a huge number for a portable AC.
are you saying the compressor is driven by the van engine?

So the compressor is attached to the engine, unsure if it's in addition to another factory compressor for the front AC. The EM-7 evaporate runs 7-15amps depending on fan speed and the condenser pulls 16~ amps. I just don't know where from.

short answer no. the compressor is driven off the vehicle engine so the vehicle engine must be running.
