I still don't buy it.  We need someone to put both a 1000W and a 500/600/700 W microwaves on a Kill-a-watt meter and see the true power draw.  I think it will surprise some vanners.
 
I have the kill a watt but my two microwaves are 900 and 1100 watt models. Maybe they will let me take the Kill A Watt into home depot.
