When I got my first cell phone, it was from Sprint. I grew up in KC and liked that I was sending money back to my home town. Over the decades I rarely got over three bars, and mostly sat around one or two. Even when lived in KC again, my coverage was spotty. I moved around the western half of the U.S. a lot and got spotty or bad coverage everywhere I went. Low bars and dropped calls were the norm. Every time I called or went into the store to complain, they said they were just now in the process of putting up new towers. What a coincidence.
I had always just assumed that things were just as bad for everyone with a cell phone. Not just Sprint customers. Then I moved to Austin. I couldn't get a signal to save my life. Seriously. In only about 1% of the town could I even make a call. And then it was pretty much guaranteed to drop before I finished. I realized why it was possible for Sprint to offer unlimited 4G at the time. An unlimited supply of nothing is still nothing.
My son and all his friends had Verizon and told me they never had any problems. They all were pretty much umbilicaled to the internet through their 4G connection. So I switched. It's like night and day. Even when I only get two bars, it is two bars of 4G and I still get full bandwidth.
Summary: I have given up on Sprint, and don't think this unlimited service will prove to be a good deal.
